Danault makes $3M a year which is the 14th highest cap hit on the team, even behind Alzner's buyout.. for his salary and cap hit he has done his job unlike guys like Price, Tatar, Byron etc.

A year ago for sure. But now? He's been atrocious. He has probably a worse shot than Mete and is significantly slower than previous seasons. He's not worth much right now.

Again...I would expect any player, on any team, whose among the leaders in ES TOI.

To also be among the leaders in ES production.

To me, this is like pointing out that a teams #1 goalie also leads their team in wins.

Water is wet.

points PER 60 minutes played

Adjusted for time of ice

Is it so difficult to understand?

Who cares if it's per 60 minutes played how does that change the scope of my response.

You want an award for pointing out the obvious?

I understood common sense before I understood grade 4 math.

If it’s “per 60 minutes”, the player that plays more ice time has no advantage. Which was your point.

This is pretty basic common sense.

I told you he was 1 or 2 in 5v5 points per 60, you told me it was because he had more ES TOI.

Whatever man.
No...I said he's among the leaders in ES TOI.

Obviously, he's going to also be among the leaders in ES pts per 60.

One goes with the other...hence, water is wet.

I never said he had MORE ES ice time then anyone in particular...

My boy Lars Ellers with 5 goals-7 assists and 12 pts after 18 games.

Not too shabby against Danault, our legitimate top 6 C apparently and his 0 g, 8 assists in 21 games.

Eller is the better player right now and he's also good during the playoffs. I used to say that they were really similar and that both were elite #3C, but many were thinking that Danault was levels above...

This thread went from being very divided to overwhelmingly negative on Danault

can’t say I didn’t see that coming lol

honestly just hope he walks and we bring in a fresh 3C vet next year

I think it's all very fair. I was personally quite supportive of him last year, but this year it's another story. He looks like he won't score one all year. His shots are beyond ridiculous. I mean even Plekanec who was known for his shots in goalie's chest has a harder shot than him.

Ice time has no impact on ES points per 60 minutes. It’s the whole point of that stat. Wtf dude come on

Edit : I think you confuse “per 60 minutes” with “per game played.” The 60 minutes refer to the player ice time, not the team ice time.

Feel bad for Gally and Tatar now, Phil is absolutely bringing that line down. At some point, DD is going to have to make some changes to the lines, Gally and Tatar are only getting points on the PP, when they are not out with Phil.
MB should grant Phil a trade and send him out of town!

I think Phil deserve the break he is given based on the last 2 years of play. Also, he is +5, his on-ice look pretty good...he is not costing the team much right now.

Also Tatar in particular missed a lot of golden chances this season. The underproduction is not solely on Danault, even if I agree it’s not his best stretch.

I'm not confused about anything...I'm well aware of what those statistics represent. 4th grade math was a long time ago but I still remember the basics lol.

All I'm saying is I don't find the fact he's 2nd in ES pts per 60 on the team, all that surprising nor do I think it reveals anything noteworthy.

Ya Tatar has been just as bad and Gallagher stopped using those 2 as options. I don't feel bad for Tatar at all, he's part of the problem.

The fact people on this very board compared danault to bergeron says all you need to know about this thread...and SOME peoples continued defence of Danault even as he lets us down a little more each game. As pointed out, Eller has been steller. Could have had him at 3.5 million, instead I am happy he plays on a great team and may well win his second cup in washington this season. TSN and SN Leaf jock riding aside.

Don't feel bad for Tatar , he's been absolute garbage like Danault. as for Gallagher he signed that golden bridge like Price and he's been sitting on it. That entire line is just a hot mess right now.

Danault's last goal, was on February 29th versus Carolina, into an empty net. The last time he beat a goalie, was January 15th against Chicago.

To be fair to Danault that goal on Feb. 29, 2020 was against a goalie. He scored an empty netter in the playoffs.
