Phillip Broberg

I was wrong. I was wrong thinking Broberg would take a year to be worth his contract.

A lesson to teams to sign RFAs before spending all money on UFAs

Most of the fans poking at Oilers fans aren't Blues fans. 90% of Blues fans are only stating they are happy with Broberg.
In the grand scheme of thing it doesnt matter what fan base is poking fun at us. Its all the same to us.

Now that being said, to blues fans, personally I’m not upset over losing them, i dont think they’d have been given the same chance they have been given in St. Louis and with the difference in expectations at the start of the season matching Broberg made no sense. I was always indifferent to them because both players usually spend a lot of time on the injured list.

I personally own a Holloway Game worn Bakersfield Condors game worn jersey and young gun card.

speedy recovery

I was one of the few Oiler fans that thought he'd live up to his contract (which I wanted them to match) and he was

unfortunately he's injured a lot in his career
I'm way less worried about injury prone-ness when it comes to injuries like this. He didn't put himself in a compromised position that caused him to get injured, he had a grown man fall on the outside of his leg and his leg went the wrong way. It's not like he stupidly put his arm straight out going into the corner and got a shoulder injury.

006: Half of everything is luck James.

007 And the other half?

006: Fate.

None of the injuries are his fault. But they have happened every season since he was 19 at the world jrs. There is a pattern here. About 20 missed games a season.

It sucks because he looks amazing when healthy and clearly has a big toolbox.

Broberg's emergence in the WCF and SCF should've been a sign that he was the guy moving forward over Nurse
What is the point of this comment? Seriously? Not one Oilers fan (or GM, owner, president) in July would rather have Nurse long term at over 9 million than Broberg at over 4 million.

Its nice you can do that while ignoring the fact this thread is still littered with blues fans who are also trying to dunk on oilers fans.

There's far more non Blues fans dunking on Oilers fans than Blues fans from what I can tell. But considering all the insults I heard from Oilers fans about our city and team after the Blues dared to sign these two players, could you really blame us?

My view and I love this thread.. Blues fans are just happy about their steals and here to talk Bro. There are defiitely some non Blues/Oiler fans in here to rip us apart.lol Nucks fans. Leafs fans. And a few very dedicated Oiler hating fans who I'm not even sure have a team they like but they definitely know they hate us.lol

Some things never change, right? Lol

I must admit I do find the Canadian fan bases sniping each other pretty amusing, but the only people that can badmouth St. Louis are other St. Louisans dammit!

I guess it was always gonna be a contentious issue considering the circumstances, but hope things work out for both fan bases and we can all have a good laugh about it in a couple of years.

Broby is the poster boy for why RFA signings exist. I would have been thrilled if no one had sent him an offer sheet and we had been able to sign him for peanuts but he objectively deserves to make more. We can be pissed off at the Blues for targeting us, but we can't say the system didn't work like it is supposed to in this case.

Sucks to hear the injury though.

I'm not gonna cape for those oilers fans if they did that the same way you shouldnt cape for the blues fans that are currently doing the same thing in this thread. Seems fair.

I guess some people don't appreciate it much when other "fans" mock a player's injury, do they?

Or at least have some cap banked before going on a UFA spending spree. The only problem is that no one predicted Broberg getting a 4.6 million offer sheet. I think the Oilers had around 2 million in space and the Ceci move in their back pocket but what Armstrong did was genius. Regardless, I still wanted them to match and just deal with the cap circumstances after Kane come back from LTIR.

unlucky injury but completely out of his control. Leg shouldn’t bend like that

From all the reading I did. My understanding is he wanted 1.8 million. Oilers held firm at a number below a million 2 years. I actually don't even think it was 900k.

Armstrong saw an opportunity to help 2 young players who were not going to get paid. It was impressive and I know Oiler fans feel targeted

At the end of the day it is a business.
