Tampa might consider trading Glasnow, trying to avoid doubling their payroll next season. He's due 25 mil next year then is due to walk. Should be a pretty cheap package especially considering the injury history...could be worth kicking the tires on. Especially if they can't get anything done with Nola.

Still another 25mm. It's hard to imagine they add anyone relatively expensive without sending away one or more of Casty, Schwarber, or JT.

I’ve always wondered what goes through the closers mind when his team is about to win the World Series, like does he pre-plan his celebration or just go with the moment

You probably don't want to put yourself into the mindset of a closer. Most of them are batshit crazy.

Adolis and Scherzer out for the rest of the series is brutal...

Like I said, absolutely brutal... :D

Arizona looking so thoroughly overmatched in the WS just makes our choke that much worse. Our plate discipline is abysmal, our entire hitting approach is flawed. If the team can't see it now, it's going to happen again next year

Closer is definitely a position like goalie or kicker. If you do good it’s expected. If you do bad you’re a scapegoat even though you had minimal part in the game, it’s just a part of the game that is perhaps unfairly magnified. A game can be lost in the 5th inning as much as the 9th. It takes a certain type of personality to succeed in a role like closer

What would a Nick Castellanos for pitching trade look like? I'm not sure a one-for-one would even be possible. Edwin Diaz and Robbie Ray are some of the names I'm looking at.

My other dumbass idea is to package Castellanos, Taijuan Walker, and Johan Rojas for Mike Trout.

Would probably need to include Painter for the Angels to even entertain that proposal.

Eh… maybe it looks insulting because we know what Trout’s capable of. The Angels would be saving like $150MM and clearing 4 years. Not many teams can bail them out like that. There’s a good chance they win that deal because of Rojas. They get their CF replacement for a guy who should be parked in LF/DH to maximize his value and improve his chances at staying healthy through his 30s.

Trout would have to force his way out (no indication he wants to) and flex his no trade. Price would depend how much salary the Phillies are taking on - 7 years at 35 per is a lot for an injury prone player in his 30s. He’d probably be pretty cheap asset wise if the acquiring team takes on most of it. Would the Angels take pennies on the dollar for an all time great tho?

Figured it was something stupid like that. I’m just posting from my phone so that’s too much work for me. Sorry boys. Just know all my links are worth it and I’d never link something inappropriate
Just replace the “x” with “twitter”. Don’t be lazy bb.

I'm not sure if this is the year to do it, but I wish the Phillies were more in the mix for the players posted from the top Korean and Japanese leagues. Boston and the New York teams have been involved. Doesn't make sense that Philadelphia wouldn't be an attractive destination.

The Phillies #1 free agent target, aside from maybe Nola or his replacement, should probably be Josh Hader.

He's probably going to want about what Edwin Diaz got, which is pretty substantial for a reliever. I'm more willing to try out some guys who have a bit less of a track record. Robert Stephenson is pretty interesting. He should be much cheaper

After last year I was saying get rid of Castellanos and Hoskins, this year JT I think is the guy to trade and hang on to Castellanos possibly for a deadline deal if they aren't in it or keep him if he plays like he did this year. Not that JT isn't good or worth keeping, just that I think he can bring back a good return and his replacement (whomever it may be) won't be as good as he is defensively but offensively I think he can be replaced via trade (free agency looks pretty rough this year, which likely would increase JT's value).

Hader feels like a ticking time bomb. Poor command and declining stuff.

Asian players are just more attracted to those cities for some reason. Senga got the same contract as Taijuan Walker.

I think the one that would have actually came here was Yoshida but the fit just wasn't there unfortunately
