What a homie lol

Good to see Turner becoming his old self down the stretch. Also Walker always seems to get run support. I wonder what that’s about

Bryson Stott is nearly on pace for the best fWAR season by a Phillies 2B not named Chase Utley.

He's tracking to finish with around 4.3-4.6 fWAR. The only Phillies 2B to have more than 4.6 in a season was Chase Utley. Dave Cash had 4.6 in 1974 and 4.5 in 1975.

Obviously analytics weren’t as mainstream then but now looking at them it’s kind of wild Utley never won an MVP. Even things that like older baseball minds like he did at a high level with the numbers to back it like fielding & base running.

It's not that wild. The voters were clueless. Howard and Rollins took many of the votes that should've gone to Utley.

Highest he ever got in MVP was 7th as well.

The combination of his defense with his offense just never was appreciated by the mainstream media.

When Howard won in 2006, Utley had a better WAR. When Rollins won in 2007, Utley had a better a WAR.

2008 though is the year that stands out. Utley had a 9.0 bWAR. Slightly trailing Pujols at 9.2. He finished *14TH* in MVP voting.

Thomson letting a clearly struggling Walker piss away a big chunk of the lead was surely a decision.
