OT: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): When You're Up, It's Never As Good As It Seems, And When You're Down, You Never Think You'll Be Up Again

I don't post here, but I follow the Eagles.

You only have two options when it comes to Jalen Hurts. If you think he's largely a product of his environment and not that MVP level player he played at this season you sell high and move on and retool. If you think he is that franchise QB you give him a contract something similar to the one Josh Allen signed.

He'll never be the most cerebral or the best pure thrower of the football, but he could possibly end up being the best dual threat QB in the league outside of Mahomes. Depending on your appetite for Allen's peaks and valleys and Lamar's generally mediocre throwing ability.

Personally, I like Hurts. He's shown steady improvement. He's accurate, he's efficient, he's a factor in the running game, he makes good decisions generally. There's a lot to like. Pay the man what he's worth.
Yup. This is pretty much the conversation.

At least we won't get the call of duty greif that Az gets with Kyler.

Well put. I would just add that this fanbase, the media and basically nobody outside of certain niche parts of our fanbase would ever forgive the people in charge if they moved on from Hurts right now and were wrong about him and forced an unnecessary retool after a SB appearance or even if they just would not completely nail his replacement (which would be very, very hard). Thats why IMO this is not even a discussion really anways. They are forced to pay him (like they did with Wentz who had proven far less arguably) even if they believe he is only a product of his environment (which I don't think they do considering how they are gushing about him) and hope they can build around him. Hopefully they are right. But the opportunity cost of not doing so is far too high for anyone to ever take the risk of moving on from him and we just have to hope it turns out better than it did with Wentz and that the new TV deal will make the contract look far better down the road than it will look now (like it did with Wentz).

Am I the only one around here that doesn't hate the Chiefs?

Sure, them being the new Patriots (AFC Championship Game appearance every year, Super Bowl appearance every other year) feels pretty stale already. I also could do with a little less (read: a lot less) Travis Kelce talk. But I don't see anything to hate about Mahomes, Big Red, or the franchise in general...

Hate is only reserved for special teams like the Cowboys, and our biggest rivals the 49ers apparently

You have to pay Hurts. He was the best player on the field last night and he probably at the very least gets us to OT if he wasnt robbed of a chance due to one of the worst calls in Super Bowl history.

The defense was atrocious. Similar to KC realizing it needed to blow up the OL after SBLV the Eagles need to take a serious look at our own secondary and assess if it is good enough. Too many blown coverages in the 4th that cost us the game.

Miles Sanders needs to be escorted to free agency. He was invisible and when he did have the ball he had a knack for turning a 20 yard run into a 5 yard gain with a cut into the teeth of the defense. Whoever pays him market value is an idiot.

This Super Bowl will be remembered for the blown call at the end. For the neutral fan, this is the game that cements the reputation that the Chiefs have the refs in their pocket. They will never shake it and Mahomes is going to hear about it the rest of his career.

Andy Reid, loved him when he was with the Birds, but if he never waddles foot in Philadelphia again I'll be ok with it. The NFL made sure he beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl and as far as I'm concerned that relationship is forever tarnished because of it.

The Chiefs are my second favorite team. I loved them growing up when they Len Dawson, Mike Garrett, Emitt Thomas, etc… I think I liked them because I thought they had cool looking uniforms. And they still have basically the same cool looking uniforms. And I’ll always root for Any Reid.

I don't hate the Chiefs. Just bummed we lost.

Nothing against them though. We should've won, but Mahomes did Mahomes stuff and Andy did Andy stuff.

Always liked Andy, can still be happy for him. Also have no issues with Mahomes or anyone else on their roster. It's not like losing to the Patriots.

Eagles and fans got cheated because of the BS Call.... but we lost because of how pathetic Gannon and the D was..... how can you only send 4 guys all game and yet KC players consistently wide open all over the field..... That and the decision to bring back an injured punter (such a brutal punt).... statistically no way birds should've lost that game but heh were Philly and when things look good we always need to worry....better off when everyone thinks were going to lose lol

Do you think getting Fangio f**** up the Defense?? I just don't know how a team that has been prepared for most of the season looks so f***ing lost in the biggest game of the year.....how many Chiefs throws were actually contested??? at least 90% of the passes guys were wide open with no Eagles back close to them...weird when your only send 4 guys at Mahomes..... bizarre

Alrighty, I feel the same. I skimmed through this thread during the commercial breaks yesterday. Thought I picked up on some Chiefs hate. I guess it was more just emotions running wild during the game, understandably.

I refuse to root for Tyreek Hill. Since the trade, no issues with them at all.

This is the loser shit SF was doing for two weeks everyone was up in arms about. Might even be worse tbh because you have to invent a conspiracy.

Because Mahomes will eat you alive just the same if you bring more men.

Kern was awful too.

Fangio reportedly helped the Eagles on the offensive side of the ball.

I live in KS and am tired of the Mahomes fellating s after only 5 years. Don’t get me started on Travis Kelce’s schtick.

After being gifted some REALLY favorable calls in the AFC title game and that holding from last night, I feel like they’re going to start being universally disliked. Kinda like New England when they had Brady

The Eagles have to pay Hurts. He showed you everything last night including responding when he stepped in his shit which no one else can say. That play sucked, but it was still a career-best performance despite that.

They brought in Vic Fangio to help, I’d like to know what exactly he did. The Chiefs were able to take over when they figured out that the defense really wasn’t going to adjust and we’re going to rely on the players to just be better. That’s why high-end QB’s found success.
