I think it’s an uncommon situation all around. He’s got some clear limitations. So do other good QBs, so that’s not a deal breaker by itself. It’s not just the system, that’s an absurd stance. He’s clearly a good starter. That’s why the only interesting bit of it to me is whether he’s good enough to do it with significantly less talent around him.

I think it’s reasonable to say your level of confidence in it falls below the Kyler Murray contract line. That’s not saying I know he’ll never get there. We’ll never know. We’re just tilting at confidence sliders.

Yes.

what limitations would those be?

So what is exactly your plan with Jalen? You mentioned like Lamar but the Ravens dont see to have a plan with him . Just maybe the tag. If he plays at the same level next year you pay him?

Yeah, I don’t know how to prioritize any of these guys because I don’t know how much they’re going to want.

At the very least, they need an outside Corner, two EDGEs, a 3 Tech, a RB, a playmaking Safety archetype, 2 LBs, and to start the OL churn. It’s going to be a fascinating off-season.
Coming back, because this is the fun stuff.

I think CJGJ gets a deal for saftey $$. At this point just go UDFA or bargain at RB.

Get that DL and Edges with the draft picks, trust Stoutland to make it happen (hope that Kelce and Lane don't retire.)

CB is going to be tough. Slay is still here, rough contract.

Think Im going to sleep soon but I dont feel bad really at all. It stings a bit but the loss to the Patriots was agonizing. Just find it hard for them to get back here but who would have thought they would be here after being 4-11-1 in 2020 or 2-5 in 2021. So who knows. Missed opportunity.

I don’t think you have to have a plan yet. If I had one, I would be saying I would sign him or I would trade him.

Here is my final thoughts on jalen hurts. If you don't think he is the guy after this performance then there is no performance that exists that will change your mind. It's a shame a fanbase can't be amazed by the performance of their 24 year old qb in his first super bowl where he outplayed everyone and was by far the only reason why this game was close. No running game, no defnse , no special teams, and we still almost won because of him. Find me a qb who has ever over come that much.

Bro with you. It SUCKS to waste the opportunity. 2004 was worse. Getting 2017 in my life, and just having old man perspective about this not being the end of life, helps.

He had a great season, and an incredible game. IMO he was the MVP of the game, win or lose. He was that good tonight.

Can he do it next year? Can he do it with scraps at WR? What happens without Steichen. Those are the hesitations, as PLAYER.

He's, by all accounts an outstanding worker, leader, and human being.

We had some scraps last year, for example. The guy we played tonight, has scraps at WR. I'm certainly willing to say hurts also elevated his processing speed this year, but we are loosing our playcaller, whos been doing a good job for 1.5 years. So a level of consistency is out the door.

Mahomes TE is a HoF player, but he sure elevates other people, and you end up with scraps because you can't pay everybody.

mahomes has scraps? Isn't his coach the greatest offensive mind of all time, doesn't he have the best pass blocking oline in the game? I'm pretty sure patrick Mahomes has exact opposite of scraps.

Yes we had scraps last year, and he led us to the playoffs as a first time starter

He has scraps at WR, partly because they elected to get rid of a player up for OPOY this year...because of money.

We have arguably the best OLine in the NFL (we have a bargain at LT).

Mahomes is the biggest reason they are winning "on the field".

Andy reid won this game not mahomes.

Jalen hurts got no help this game, not from the running game, , not from the defense and not from special teams.

Mahomes made no difficult throws today. Meanhile Hurts made some unbelievable throws today.

I'm not disagreeing that Reid ruined our defense tonight, but I think you are VASTLY underestimating Mahomes on the field.

ONe thing that is going to be brought up is the turf. THere were no sacks tonight by either team and it was because dlineman had nothing to push off on. Huge advantage for the Chiefs.

Don't care about Hurts right now, or whether we pay him or not.

Bradberry admitted to the hold. FULL STOP

He admitted that he figured the refs would let it "slide"

No prior calls like that and finally it's a flag that determines the outcome of the game!!

What professional player says something like "let it slide" unless he's not the only one who plays that way.

The players no longer determine anything, that's the saddest part about sports in general

- end rant

Neutral fan in peace (although i would have loved to have seen the Eagles win ).... are there actual Philly fans disparaging Hurts? I'd give you Cousins + Cook + 1st rd pick if I could.

Sorry about the loss, honestly. It was a really fun game

No one is really disparaging him. It's just the discussion that a Kyler contract essentially guts the roster in other places, when we are at max, with dead money coming from years past, ect.

And the game is never fun if the team you like loses. Others have been worse. Still sucks.

I don't post here, but I follow the Eagles.

You only have two options when it comes to Jalen Hurts. If you think he's largely a product of his environment and not that MVP level player he played at this season you sell high and move on and retool. If you think he is that franchise QB you give him a contract something similar to the one Josh Allen signed.

He'll never be the most cerebral or the best pure thrower of the football, but he could possibly end up being the best dual threat QB in the league outside of Mahomes. Depending on your appetite for Allen's peaks and valleys and Lamar's generally mediocre throwing ability.

Personally, I like Hurts. He's shown steady improvement. He's accurate, he's efficient, he's a factor in the running game, he makes good decisions generally. Not to mention he seems to possess the intangibles required for a QB. There's a lot to like. Pay the man what he's worth.
