It's good that the Lions are in the middle of a hot streak maybe they can finish strong.
It will be interesting to see what NO looks like, after the bye, I don't trust any of the teams they are playing, including us.

Carolina boned themselves so hard.

David Tepper is lowkey one of the worst owners in sports. I know Snyder gets a lot of heat for being Snyder, but Tepper has very quickly built up a dossier of shit down here in NC. Team had a $800m training facility that he canceled in the middle of construction after he couldn't get the town of Rock Hill, SC to pay him more taxpayer money than originally planned before construction began. The man is one of the wealthiest owners in the league pulling shit like that....

I fully expect the Panthers to be relocated within 10 years.

Yeah, but they have/had a Krispy Kreme store on their Club Level...

Pssh that's a Winston-Salem thing, I'm surprised Charlotte even recognizes that it exists. For them its all Bojangles, Bojangles, Bojangles, oh a bank, Bojangles, and 'oh, did you know Steph Curry is from here?'

5. Philadelphia Eagles (via 4-9 NO)

Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

This is a serious luxury pick for the 12-win Eagles after landing this selection from the Saints in the 2022 offseason. Per ESPN Stats & Information research, the last time a team went to a Super Bowl (as ESPN's FPI projects) and then had a top-five draft pick was 1992, when Washington won the championship and then drafted Desmond Howard fourth overall via a trade-up. I considered Clemson defensive tackle Bryan Bresee here, because GM Howie Roseman values the interior defensive line, and pairing Bresee with Jordan Davis up the middle would give Philadelphia quite the run-stopping duo. However, Miles Sanders is set to be a free agent, this offense leans heavily on the run (433 rushes, second most in the NFL), and Robinson is a special prospect with elite size, speed, power and elusiveness.

I know the "it's too early for a running back" arguments are coming, and I agree 99% of the time. But why spend heavily on re-signing Sanders or bringing in another back in free agency when Robinson -- who is an upgrade -- is available here on a rookie deal? Robinson cruised to 1,580 yards and 18 TDs on the ground this season while breaking 91 tackles. Dropping him into the league's best offense would be scary for every other team. Philly also has another first-rounder down the board ...

31. Philadelphia Eagles (12-1)

Isaiah Foskey, DE, Notre Dame

ESPN's FPI has the Eagles winning the Super Bowl in this projection and closing out Day 1 of the draft. After getting Bijan Robinson earlier, Philly would likely pivot to the defensive side of the ball. Brandon Graham is in the last year of his deal, Derek Barnett tore his ACL in September, and Robert Quinn is just a rental after coming to town at the trade deadline. So while the Eagles lead the NFL in sacks (49), they will still be looking for pass-rush help opposite Josh Sweat after the season. Foskey uses his great initial burst to put offensive tackles on their heels, and he had 11 sacks in each of the past two seasons. Other spots for the projected champs to consider would be the secondary and linebacker.

I'd have to see who was there. I love Bijan Robinson but seriously I think he would be available at the end of the round because RBs have no value, even a rare talent like Robinson.

Mike Leach was awesome. Sad news

The stories are all-timers, but Leach and his partner in crime Hal Mumme are arguably the two guys most responsible for pushing football (not just the NFL) forward into the modern game. They changed college football, which changed high school football, which then changed college football all over again, and then eventually hit the NFL.

They're the ones that smashed the idea that you needed a singular QB talent to build the offense around the passing game. Not only did they design the offense that made it possible, they created the drills that are still used today to teach the passing game. Yes, simplicity of playbook is always in the stories you read about Leach, but most of them bury the lede. The offense was designed so that the QB had the ability to audible into any play in the entire playbook. That's what made it hum. It's no wonder so many of his QBs became playcallers.

Saints(4-9)

Remaining Schedule

Falcons(5-8), @Browns (5-8), @Eagles(12-1), Panthers(5-8)

I think probably worst 'realistic' outcome is the Saints finishing 6-11. Which is still probably in the 7-10 range so not that horrible.

If I had to rank the possible outcomes
#1)5-12 (they win 1 more game)
#2)6-11 (they win 2 more games)
#3)4-13 (they win 0 more games)
#4)7-10 (they win 3 more games)
#5)8-9 (they win all 4 games)

Obviously #5 is miniscule and #4 is extremely unlikely as well. I think it's probably like 95% one of the first three scenarios.

I don't disagree but with the team we have the luxury of a top five pick, you can make that pick without question. Robinson and Foskey would be amazing first round for the Eagles. How far back do you trade and still make sure you get Robinson? You take the sure thing here. If Robinson is as good as advertised he's a nightmare in this system. The question is do you want that or an extra couple picks that may never amount to anything and a chance to take him later? I'd take the sure thing, ESPECIALLY if they win the SB.

Miles Sanders averages over 5 yards per carry over his career, why do they need a RB again?

*Not an endorsement of Miles

Going RB with the Saints pick makes me want to vomit
Even if you ignore the longevity concerns and that the OL influences the run game more than any RB, top ten picks still get paid and “wasting” a rookie scale number on the least valuable position in the league is foolish.

Speaking of OL, that's where I would look. I'm not sure what the board looks like, but this line is going to look real different very shortly without Lane or Kelce.

I go trenches with that early pick. O or D line. DB is fair too. They shouldn't be going "skill position" with the Saints pick.

You can always, always find value at RB on day 2 or 3. Hell, I even think Boston Scott finds success with his pass catching chops and reasonable rushing skills. No need to burn anything on RB
