Seems to me that the more Howie tries to control the team the worse they do. They said on ESPN about the decisions about the coaching staff were not Nicks but most likely came from higher up. Funny the team went in the tank after some of this stuff started. Same thing with Doug P. Coincidence?

I also found it strange Howie was at the entrance to the locker room hugging players when they came off the field.

Last year they said it was Nick who fired Dennard Wilson. I think the report was they got into a huge argument. Bad move regardless.

To be fair to Howie, he's been stockpiling draft picks while getting a team to the SB (which they probably win on a decent field). And he stockpiled young DBs this offseason, hoping his veterans could give him one more season.

But the day of reckoning has arrived, all the veterans fell off the cliff at the same time and the kids weren't ready for prime time. On offense, good question who thought Watkins would rebound.

Real problem was Howie mortgaged the future for the big run and simply didn't have the cap room to keep key players or add FAs, Seumalo and Hargrave were big losses. Couldn't buy a starter caliber LB, S or WR3.

The collapse is actually a good thing, it was coming at some point, now he can clear house, eat dead money, bring in a lot of youth - but if you keep Siri, you need more coaches like Stoutland who can coach up young players.

The real problem is that they haven’t drafted and/or developed well in years.

I loved plenty of picks, especially last year. I’m not trying to relitigate those. But they haven’t worked out at all. The success stories are Offensive Linemen and functionally NFL ready guys in Carter and DeVonta. That’s it.

I guess it’s this time. I would bring BG back because he shouldn’t ever play for another team.

The name I know I will get pushback on is Reddick. I’d move on.

Reddick is a worthwhile discussion...he's probably priced himself out of his current contract, but he's also had a worse showing.

BG should come back if he'll come back. Agreed.

This seems awfully familiar like another franchise in this city.

Reddick is also someone who I think got overrated a bit because of a year where he converted an awful lot of pressures to sacks. He’s a good pass rusher and the contract was a steal. I never wanted to pay him what he thinks he’s worth. The DPOY discussion last year was insane to me.

Mitchell
Coloson
Bullock

Don’t have an account but there’s no way Howie does that, guessing the linebacker is one of the three. They will draft a tackle with at least one of their first three picks, and they still need another pass rusher if they don’t want to pay Reddick. They’ll be in the free agent or trade market again for a corner most likely.

I wonder if there was some type of power struggle or something behind the scenes of defense with the Desai firing and then the defense continuing to suck

I said it a few weeks ago the only real explanation for the performance is some sort of power struggle from either the GM or the coaching level. You have Hurts "not getting to run his offense", BJ saying he has no real say, the DC switch. This does have all the earmarks of Howie either in a panic move or something else.

I'm as big of a Howie stan as it gets, but picking Jordan Davis over Kyle Hamilton upsets me greatly

Yes, it's on-brand for the Eagles, but I don't care. It was just wrong.

There was a power struggle before Desai was hired because the players wanted Dennard Wilson, who Nick fired after hiring Desai. Wilson went to Baltimore and now he’s getting the interviews.

The demotion also came with a change of scheme given they were doing things like putting Reddick into coverage, running defense they’re not designed to run. There were new coverages, I’m guessing there’s new terminology with that, and you’re doing this in December, that’s inevitably going to confuse the players on the field, plus you got players coming in and out. The whole thing on defense turned into a mess, it started with personnel decisions, and change made that worse and not better.
