Do you think it was a coincidence they announced Robs extension right after the Niners game?

This team isn't very good this year. If you take solace with that the pain will be alleviated.
I've pined for the days of these two organizations hating each other and constantly trying to one up each other for years.

So using the other organization's failure as cover to hide your failures is some upside down version of that.

I am baffled when I see ranting from any team's fans about trying to force balls to best receivers and laying all the blame anywhere. We don't know what's going on.

I sincerely hope that you all dont imitate us and hold onto a shitty Offense Cordinator way past his due date. I'm still annoyed that Dorsey survived a year and a half before we finally sacked him. Hopefully you get rid of Johnson soon.

I knew it would crash hard but this is amazing. The dysfunction is Simmons/Harden level!! Maybe even worse. Hurts preaching accountability every week, then throws his teammates under the bus with "I don't think some guys are commited enough". This after firing but not firing Desai after 6 months. The finger pointing. The secondary not wanting listen to their game planning team. It's so juicy. 10/10 hilariously typical of sports in this city lately. Thank God for the Phillies. At least they just have a bad bullpen. Not sarcasm

He needs a coach to drill into his head it's ok to to throw amshort and not always go for the kill shot. They are totally neglecting Goedert right now. Seattle's linebackers couldn't cover him or the middle of the field.

A few common talking points in the fanbase at large and how they illustrate a complete disconnect from what the offense did last year:

  • They're dead last in Motion%. They were last year too.
  • They don't use TEs. Goedert has been targeted slightly more times per game this year than last.
  • Johnson doesn't call shorter routes. Hurts is at 8.6 Air Yards/Attempt. Last year was 8.3. That's functionally equivalent.

It's the same offense. The only major difference is that Hurts isn't a top tier runner.

The basis of their scheme is Inside Zone, RPOs, and ROs out of the Gun. I think everyone understands that Read Options only work if your QB is a running threat, but the same is true for their entire running game. To base yourself in Gun in the NFL and expect to keep running the ball particularly well, you need to threaten the edges with your QB. The scheme is based on a numbers advantage. Hurts' legs allowed them to be at one. They no longer do. Maybe he got hurt in camp and hasn't been healthy from day one. I have no idea. Hell, it would make sense. But that's the big difference.

Now blame the coaching staff for failing to make changes to the scheme by the middle of December and I'm completely on board. But don't tell me any of these schematic complaints are new.

maybe its the same offense. But the opponents are better prepared than last year. So if you run the same things back you will be get far worse results! Its why you need to get better every day. Hurts, Sirianni, Brown all talk this shit every press conference: "We need to get better every day"..... But they dont do it for weeks!

Its time for consequences! I´am not sure what needs to be done. But the offense cant play the same shit every game! We cant fix the dfense this season! So we need to score more and no turnovers!

Maybe get Frank Reich in here. Could be the last solution although its a very bad look!

We had a few good playcallings with the short routes to Dallas and Smitty.... But it ended and the good offense ended with it!

Defense has players in position to make plays, they just don't make them. D ends always rushing to the middle and giving up the edge kills them. Offense play selection sucks either its the reads by Hurts or the play design or both.

Remember how it felt last year when they would get into a groove and run 7 plays over and over and over again? The defining characteristics of their offense last season were how few different plays they needed and how hard they spammed a handful of them in each game.

Teams were already prepared. They just happened to have a high tier playcaller at OC and had the personnel to make the chosen scheme work. Now they have a below average playcaller and Hurts' running doesn't exist as the bedrock. This year's offense is defined by moving off of what's working without the defense forcing them to do so.

Frank Reich left 5 years ago and has basically had one good year of playcalling under him since. He's just a name people recognize. I do not get the obsession with him on any level. There are so many good coaches out there. I'd much rather look forward than backward.

Look at how much less push the OL is getting in the running game this year. Why do we think that's happening?
