The more I go back and look at it, the more Lance has one of the weirdest careers in my memory.

99 PAs in high school. 318 in college. They make the giant trade. Shanahan is a genius play caller, but then they never built the offense around him. They just kept running the same offense. Then the injury hits at the worst time possible.

Was it just that he never wanted him? Because that's what it feels like from the outside.

It's really hard to say, the injuries absolutely did derail him. KS thought he could get him to play in his offense, and IMO he should have been able to.
