Jeff Skinner fined for multiple dives

it's crazy that i could believe this for almost any other nhl player except for jeff skinner because of his figure skating training
It’s true though. For a figure skater he actually is off balance quite a bit and falls down all the time. He does the ten to two/mohawk style of skating the current generation is amazing at, and despite his athletic ability he always seems like he’s about to fall over. I’m not saying this fine is off base. Just that the the theory he must be diving because of his skating issue is surprisingly off base.

I mean - fining for diving is great in my opinion - but I'm not going to lie, it feels a little bit wacky that this is what's getting a fine.

Literally he just falls and gets back up and keeps playing. Didn't even look like he was looking for a call?

I feel like there's more egregious dives with head snaps and litigious arguments with refs in almost every game.

But far from me to get offended on behalf of thousands of a multimillionaires dollars. 😂

Yeah, I’m all for giving out fines like this, but this kind of “went down a little easy” play happens multiple times a game all over the league. Why this one out of the blue?

This needs to be more common. It feels like diving has gone way up in the past 5 years.
About the same time the Divalanche started and they won a Cup with it. Can’t blame NHL teams for evening the playing field.

I mean he is a figure skater by his earlier profession, but this is a bit much with how much diving there is.
? There is zero diving in figure skating, and there's no incentive to dive in it, either.

Refs really f***in hate Skinner, is my guess. For some reason his constant yapping just seems to irk ‘em more than most, and I absolutely think he gets punished for it. He’s on a different team now, I can say that.

Fined for this?

I feel like there are around a dozen more fine-worthy dives per game.
I think it’s because he embellished and then had the balls to look back at the ref like he missed a call lol

The fact that people are defending him makes me wonder if I’m crazy and he’s not looking back at the ref

That’s how messed up biased people see things lol

We need fines for the fake head whiplash on high sticks.
This is utterly ridiculous, because when anything hard comes flying withing a couple inches of your face, only an idiot wouldn't try to get their face out of the way asap.

Now the ones that clutch their faces like they got hit, but actually didn't... those cheating bastards need to get nailed.

so DoPS watches oilers games and simply choose not to fine mcdavid, got it
He doesn’t dive. Simple as that.

The only bullshit in relation to McDavid and the refs, is he doesn’t get ENOUGH calls. No one in the League fights through more hooks, holds, interferences, trips than him. Partly because he has the ability to fight through it and make it look like those infractions don’t affect him and partly cause the refs in this League are clowns.

Looking at ref? Wow, how extreme. Is he Superman?

I cant find a video but Mason Marchment had one Friday and Toews was penalized. Stick clearly missed and he did the fake head snap/grab his face and the refs bought it. Stars scored on the PP and ended up winning by two with an empty net. Obviously a lot of other plays went into the game, but easily could be seen as the difference in the game.

It not a dive if you get hit with a stick in the face. Its a reaction. It happened to be his own stick that the opponent lifted.
If you call it “embellishment” and it is called embellishment. It should be considered a dive if a player Hams it up after getting a stick tap to the face. Not saying that Rants did this though; cause I think there was enough force with his own dumb ass stick hitting himself to warrant the reaction.

But here’s a more appropriate example though, Game 7 2nd round playoffs. Soucy gets tapped in the VISOR, starts hamming it up like he took 5 stitches to the eyeballs or lost some teeth. It’s the right call regardless but where’s the fine for EMBELLISHMENT here. This is what I call the ol Divalanche Face Grab:

No this is a dive.

Offset by the hundreds of non-calls on obstruction hooks, holds and interference every season. Amazing people still focus on the 'diving'.
