I'm holding out the tiniest bit of hope that his announcement is that this is his last year, no ifs, ands, or buts. So that he gets the whole year to mentally prepare for retirement and everyone knows and expects him to be done after this upcoming year concludes.

Now, that said, I really don't expect that to be the case, but hey...we can all hold out some hope here.

Is there even a plan to try to put any sort of scotch tape over the enormous hole in the middle of the O line or is that something we're also not allowed to criticize Howie the Shrewd for?

That's why they drafted Jurgens. That's why Kelce helped in that selection. That's the plan for C. Well at least that was the plan. Idk if it's still the plan.

The plan was always Jurgens moving over to C. As to who fills Jurgens' current spot, that's probably either Opeta or a draft pick, but I wouldn't rule out a FA signing.

The enormous hole we don't seem to have a plan for is when Lane retires.

There's quite a bit of dead cap $ that accelerates to this year if Kelce does indeed hang it up, right?

I think it depends. I heard the Jason OTC guy say that it depends when the Eagles officially have Kelce retire. Like Kelce can make the announcement now & carry his contract until June 2 and it helps the team.

This is the guy I'm referring to btw

Oh but don't worry, "Lane has a spot on this roster as long as he wants it"

Code for "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it"

If Jurgens is the guy, so be it. He's always been serviceable at worst with room to grow. As long as they draft whoever Stoutland wants now and forevermore, amen

The best center I've ever watched in the NFL.

Time to see if "second round Linderbaum" is worth it. Definitely pounding for the future RT and maybe RG depending on what happens.
Jason can now focus on his family and his health. Drop the extra pounds that Beau Allen recommended and other OL in have done like Joe Thomas, Jeff Saturday, etc. Makes for a better quality of life not carrying the extra 40-50 lbs he's been carrying.

He has plenty of options available to him now. Just has to decide what he wants to do.

I hate it when people call players unique, but I don’t know if we’re ever going to see a Center who gets out into space so much better than every one of his peers ever again. Creed Humphrey is fantastic and on a legit HoF arc. So were Rodney Hudson and Olin Kruetz among others. But they all won in very different ways than Kelce. Centers aren’t supposed to be able to pull that consistently and spectacularly.
