Awesome. Hopefully its the last time we have to be in the lottery lol.

Also here's a Q, on the 76ers draft lottery party videos, why do all the YouTube videos have "Right to Ricky Sanchez" on em?

Rights to Ricky Sanchez is the name of Spike Eskin's (Howard Eskin's son) podcast show.

*EDIT*

Didn't read far enough. Already been answered lol.

Goes deeper than that:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_Sánchez

Representative of the attention to detail which is part of the process, every little transaction counts, b/c you never know when you will parlay an unknown player as the cover for a cash for trash draft pick transaction to fit league rules.

Of course, it's also a satirical comment on the Hinkie roster churning of his first two years in charge when you needed a scorecard to track the changes.

It's pretty awesome next draft is guard heavy and we'll have the pick swap with the Kings along with the potential Lakers pick again.

I hope we get lakers next year, because they will be heavy favorites for lebron, and KD, and high talent for 2017 - 18 season, so the 2018 draft we finally get lakers pick unprotected but if they get talent and win, it will just shoot our chance at a lottery pick.

all thought the next 2 classes are deep from what people are reporting

Lakers are no longer a draw for top talent, these guys make so much money they don't care where they live, they can fly in for parties, fly out, and go home to their mansion.

Until the Lakers build a solid core, they'll be no more attractive than the Sixers, less so, b/c Philly has a solid talent base and lots of draft picks, if you're Westbrook, which would look like a more attractive place to get a ring?

Money doesn't matter since the salary ceiling combined with the salary cap makes it impossible to just outspend the league.

Yeah, the Lakers have settled on the Whiteside/DeRozan tier at best until they show some real progress. Them signing a true superstar just isn't happening unless Westbrook decides he's going home -- which never happens anymore outside of the unique Lebron situation.

I mean--I guess it's just cap space, and not an actual asset. AsWoth BC in charge, that might be the least painful short-term upgrade?

He's definitely better. He plays solid defense, is a good athlete, very good in transition, and has shot just under 40% from 3 so far in his career. He's not going to be a huge fix, but he can certainly be a help, and will fit the system. I'd be interested to see what they're offering him, but I imagine he shouldn't have much of a problem putting up 16, 7, 3 a game.

He reminds me a bit of Iguodala with lower level passing but a better shot. He's also not quite on Iguodala's level defensively but very few are.

Also, Barnes > Waiters, no?
I would loathe Waiters on this team. Hopefully Colangelo isn't that stupid. He played pretty good for OKC in the playoffs but him making big money on a young team in his home town in a "star" role has disaster written all over it. I would welcome Barnes with open arms if it meant no Waiters.

To be clear, it wasn't a really a question. I suppose I'm just saying that I think Colangelo is bound to do at least one semi-short-sighted thing. If signing Barnes is that, I can live with it.

Barnes isn't going to be worth the money he's paid this summer, but in the Sixers case, they're so far below the floor what else are they going to use the space on? Barnes is an okay player that fits at SF. He actually might have some upside left if he's given a bigger role. If they sign him I'll give it a big "meh".

Barnes is better as a PF than a SF, and his 3 point % is inflated by a high percentage of uncontested shots.

Covington is a better shooter, more physical, quicker hands but not as athletic. Grant is as athletic, but a poor shooter. And this guy Simmons can fill the same role.

Barnes is better, but brings nothing special to the table, he's the 5th best player on GS, and not a "top 3" type you want on a championship caliber team - so not worth a max contract.

Sixers need guards and true SFs, not hybrid PF/SF types.

Great article on Hinkie:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16597961/sam-hinkie-just-win-tale-process-ultimate-fall

Take some time and read it. Won't be disappointed.

Thanks...that was great and just reinforced my appreciation for Hinkie and what he did and how he thought. Again...those who follow never come in first.

It is clear the league orchestrated a coup...b/c Hinkie was showing them up. First quote sums everything up when it comes to the Lakers, Kings and Knicks who weren't exactly tearing up the league.

Now let's see how BC does....I don't have the faith I had in Hinkie. The whole installment of BC stinks to high heaven...nepotism and cronyism....thanks Silver you bald *******!

By stepping in and facilitating the Jerry Colangelo move in Philadelphia, then, Silver sent a message: Gross incompetence is acceptable; strategic gaming of a flawed system is not

Other notable excerpts from the article

Adds one Western Conference executive: "Sam's a hard-nosed negotiator, which is intimidating to some people. There's a bit of 'what's behind the curtain?' with Sam. People don't know what his factors are. It's not as straightforward as 'I like that guy.'"

"We're in a competitive business," says one Western Conference exec. "I think a lot of people feared what Sam was doing: 'What if it works? It will become the new model"
.

Adds the former GM, "There was a perception that Sam thought he was smarter than everyone else."

Says one Western Conference GM: "I really believe what Hinkie did was break something down masterfully. People say you can just tank and get picks. Sam did so much more. His deals brought multiple picks back every time. I never saw someone do more deals with more moving parts in such a short amount of time."

To wit: Hinkie pillaged Sacramento last July by taking on the contracts of Carl Landry and Jason Thompson to acquire Nik Stauskas along with a 2018 first-round pick and the right to swap first-rounders in 2016 or 2017.

Why Sixers ownership picked this moment to make that move, with the franchise so close to the end of its tunnel of foulness, is complicated. In some ways, it is evidence that The Process worked.

Adam Silver admitted to reaching out to Jerry Colangelo on behalf of the Sixers' owners in December. But interviews with more than a dozen league sources -- including GMs, other executives and agents -- suggest that the commissioner's involvement in that regime change may have been greater than he has let on.

Some sources claim Philly's ownership group had grown impatient with Hinkie's lack of a clear timetable to be competitive and had been worn down by constant criticism. Others suggest Silver pressured the 76ers into making a change.

So it was, league sources say, that the glorification of The Process (by those who actually thought it would work) scared the commissioner, perhaps even more than the condemnation. Silver has made no secret of his desire to reform the lottery, a system in place for 32 years. And it's doubtful that 17 owners would have voted to reduce the odds that the worst team got the top pick, as they did in 2014, had there not been sound logic behind the Sixers' plan (23 votes were required to pass the measure).
