Normally I dont mind giving up a 5th to negotiate as long as its for the right player and the contract is reasonable.
He's going to get a ufa rate contract anyway. No reason for him to settle for less

We really got after hextall for his nhl talent evaluation. The writing is on the wall that Hayes is the guy they wanted. It’ll be a good early indicator on fletcher and co.Normally I dont mind giving up a 5th to negotiate as long as its for the right player and the contract is reasonable.
Kevin Hayes totally moves the needle.
Not.
If you guys sign Hayes for longterm and with Frost in pipeline it does bring up possibility that Patrick will be available IMO
Suppose this likely means no Duchene or Panarin.
Not that it was really expected, but yeah.
I sure hope that Fletch got word that those two players have both made up their minds on their next destinations and thats why he set his sights on Hayes.
Could be seen as a negative right nowhe's alive.
There is quite possibly a 99% chance that 5th round pick becomes the next Pavel Datsyuk as a kart round draft pick... yes I know he was taken in the 6thNormally I dont mind giving up a 5th to negotiate as long as its for the right player and the contract is reasonable.
I’m currently munching on glass.
Posted in roster thread but repeating here capfriendly says we could only offer him a 7 year deal right now?

If he can be our version of Tyler Bozak, I'm totally fine with this move.He has 4 goals in 40 playoff games.
Let that sink in.
Is it ok to hate this move while still thinking Hayes is generally underrated? That's pretty much where I am at any price that will deter him from testing the market.
And trading assets for UFAs. Asinine. If you think the round the pick is in here matters, you're lost.
