Finally, a complaint we'll all be able to agree on, except for maybe our typical contrarian(s).
I am mentally prepared for 6 years x 6.5 million...and will dislike it even if it is market value now for how he has produced. Less than that, will be pleased. More, and I will be very disappointed.

After some sleep I like this move more, and I hope we reach a deal. Overall positives:

Fletcher is being active + filled arguably our biggest need.
Patrick can grow into his own and if this is his year to break out, even better. We'll be strong (or very strong) down the middle.
+ 2-3 years from now if Patrick is the real deal, you likely can trade Hayes.
Hayes could take some of the defensive load off Couts and create more favorable minutes and matchups for our top line.
Our 2nd PP unit can improve with him.
Good faceoff guy + can kill penalties.

Hayes is a solid two way center that makes us away better team. This team has to give up 100 less goals and hayes will help that if the rest of the team competes and joins in the fun. Thata boy Fletcher keep on rolling by trading for Trouba and signing a ferland type. This team right now could not play the blues or Bruins in a 7 game series and win but were gonna get there.

Lol. Give the guy a chance. If Hayes scores 25-30 goals this year I wonder if you will be upset because he is making six million dollars and we gave up a 5th?

25-30 goals is very optimistic. Hes only had 1 season over 20 goals in his career. 17-20 goals, 45-50 points is what id expect.

Two years ago the Jest traded for Stastny and we were very pleased with the result , he was a good player and helped with the playoff run. The Jets cleared some cap space to try to resign him but could not . Hayes was traded for about the same package and was okay at best , he underwelmed in playoffs and had decent at best results in regular season . I had mentioned earlier in a post on another thread that Hayes and T Myers were decent players but were not what the Flyers need and i stand by those remarks .
I don.t care what the contract looks like i was more worried about the player aquired .

I feel like Hayes will get a more palatable contract than Duchene will.

I’m not so sure Duchene is the type of player I want to hand a huge contract to.

Shhh. Everyone has career years when they come here. It is known.
Notice how so many are scared ****less of Flyers players disappointing but apparently any outside player added will definitely play at their peak?

Trouba and Hayes have career bests during contract years and no warning sirens go off, apparently. People here aren’t good at pattern recognition.

Probably the biggest complaint someone should have is that we're going after a player who can score 15-20 goals, which we have enough of already, unless Konecny and Lindblom and Patrick are the ones who you think can get to 30.

I would have preferred to go after Duchene first, and look at Hayes if Duchene signed elsewhere, but that most likely ends with getting neither of them.

Bingo. Last summer Hexy missed out on Statsny and then we were left with noone to help down the middle. Fletcher likely realized Duchene wasn't realistic and took a step to get the next best UFA Center. We couldn't repeat last summer and go into this season with question mark for our 2C / 3C

All three of them definitely can, depending on usage/development.

Hard to resist the temptation of adding TrouPPa, our new #1 ppqb and Haygoals, our new sniper.
