Myers will be a great d man for Nashville. I hate to lose him but we need a guy like Ellis to compete now. I don't mind losing Patrick, his injury history is just too unstable, but if he can put it all together and stay healthy he is a 60 pt guy.

I think Nashville did amazing. Flyers imo did not do that well. Myers had a tough year but he’s still really good and Ellis has a bad contract.
This is a fine deal for the Flyers. With two highly touted D prospects in the pipeline, they could afford to move Myers. And looking at this as purely a hockey trade, the Flyers got the best player in the deal. He will be a nice compliment to Provorov. Hopefully, they're not finished and can add one more established top 4 defender.

Lol only on hf would someone come up with a narrative like this. Tell me you've never played hockey without telling me you've never played hockey.

Before you regale us with your beer league heroics, why don't you use your words to offer a counter argument on Glass?

Since you obviously know so much about him.

I don’t see any way the flyers can lose their trade. Nolan Patrick is way too far gone at this point- I can’t see him being anything other than an average 3C at his peak. Phil Myers is 24 and his hockey IQ is just not good enough to ever project as more than a number 4 or 5 at his peak.

Why do so many people seem to think Glass is a lock to become a 2C yet Patrick has 0 chance?

Its weird lol... I bet you if the draft positions were swapped the narrative would be different.

Obviously Patrick has had injury issues but so has Glass.
Because patrick has a chronic migraine disorder that caused him to miss 2019-2020, and had him admitting that he was avoiding hits at the beginning of 2021 season for fear of shots messing up his head.

His brain condition puts odds well against him.

You realize he put up 30 and 31 points the previous seasons though right? And then was having his head issues
No, he missed the previous season entirely. He had 30 and 31 seasons before that. But his migraine issue is chronic and career threatening

I don’t think the Flyers will regret this deal but also don’t think they are getting the level of player many here think they are getting.
Anything is better than Braun as the top pair d next to provorov. So ya give us some slack for being happy about getting a guy who is 1000x better than Braun on the top pair.

He took and dished hits later on in the season with no issues. Last year, while he didn’t score much, was a success for patrick in that he didn’t get hurt/can finally skate without issues right now. This is his first real summer where he can train his ass off without any complications apparently so maybe he comes to Vegas and does well. I can see him producing 40-50 eventually

Flyers won this trade. Patrick is one hit away from retiring. Myers was good 2 seasons ago, he wasn't good this season. Ellis is real good and has been for quite some time.

we have no highly touted RHD prospects. Myers was our only "young" RHD. The cupboard is now bare there.

What Myers actually contributed was easily replaceable and he will be replaced. Simple as.

If he turns into a legit #4 then good on Nashville and that ultimately would mean Philly paid a fair price for Ellis. More realistically, tho, he will likely be a steady #5/#6 type for years.

Flyers still have RD Wylie in AHL and RD Attard and St.Ivany in the College ranks.
None are considered highly touted but the cupboard isn’t completely bare.

it's not just about next year. In addition, we are still needing a RHD for next year.

Myers has the potential to be the best player in this deal with his size/talent combo.

He might also just flail about and never get consistent too and bust out. That's life with a young player.

He wasn't the guy I would have preferred to move.

imo, there is a pretty small chance any of them plays impact minutes in the NHL.

Like on the left we have York and zamula ready to play, and they are blocked by Hagg/Ghost.

We know Ellis isn’t a Norris winner as such, but he’s such an upgrade on Braun and Hagg will perform hugely better than Myers and Sanheim did last year. We needed this, I’m in total shock that Fletch pulled it off.

completely disagree and I don't see any timeline in which Myers is anywhere clsoe to being the best player in the deal. Matter of fact, there is a much greater chance he could be the worst player in the deal if both Patrick and Glass get it together.

It's not 2018 any more. Myers kind of is what he is. He can improve obviously, but this is not a player the Flyers will ever regret trading especially considering they got a much much much better RHD in return. Myers is a dime-a-dozen replacement level. I'm not saying Myers is trash or anything cause I'd still like to have him, but they upgraded by trading a fringe potential #4/#5 RHD to a proven #2/#3 RHD

I imagine Chuck Fletcher will be looking in UFA to try to get another RHD too, and he didn't trade away any high picks so the cupboard can be restocked this year if need be

imo, there is a pretty small chance either plays in the NHL.
Attard may have the best chance at an NHL spot eventually out of the Flyers RD prospects but needs to work on his skating and positioning in the netural and defensive zones.

Attard will probably stay another two seasons at Western Michigan Univ. at which time it will be determined if the Flyers and Attard can come to terms on a contract or let Attard go UFA like Chicago defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk.

they traded away a busted up Patrick who was horrific last year. if it weren't for his reputation and draft position he would've been sent down. he got outplayed by 4th line scrubs he was that bad. Myers has all the tools but no toolbox. he'll be nothing more than a decent 4/5 defenseman for Nashville. which is fine for them i'm sure. even if Ellis is nothing more than "just ok" for the Flyers that's still a win for them. they didn't give up much to get some much needed stability on the backend.

At first I wondered why Vegas would trade Glass for Patrick but then I remembered Kelly McCrimmon worked for the Wheat Kings forever, so he knows Patrick very well.

Interesting trade by Nashville tho - guess they're clearing a spot for Fabbro?

Vegas has traded all 3 of their 2017 first round draft picks now. Glass, Suzuki and Brannstrom all gone.

They've been doing pretty well despite that though.

Especially when you realize none of their draft picks have made an impact for them, except maybe Hague.

However, they have been adept at moving picks/prospects in the right moves.
