Because some people here actually listen to Philly fan's negativity about these two players.

they both had their issues, no doubt, but Lecavalier was pretty good here until he got hurt initially. they then tried to move him to wing, a position he's basically never played before in his entire NHL career, and saddled him with players like Matt Read who played the entire season with an ACL sprain or something and was absolutely useless

Schenn's just whatever. decent enough defensive defenseman, doesn't hit like he used to at all though. i think the Kings winning atmosphere will do them both a lot of good. a 3rd is nothing.

"rental" trades are astronomically costly nowadays, and they went for basically nothing. both gone after the year too. Lecavalier also hated it here. he sucked sometimes but he was also mistreated at times too

You act like he traded Kopitar straight up for the guy. Give me a break...what in hell did we actually give up?

Not concerned about what we have up (not much). My concern is with the players we got don't see how they help. Luke maybe but Vinny is junk and if he should change his mind and want to play next season we would be screwed.

I think Schenn will end up being solid for us.. I think VL will end up being healthy scratched 10-15 games into his stint with us.

Love the trade. Schenn and Doughty are BF's .

Another smile on Doughtys face > Weal,3rd

Forgot about that! Jackpot!

Dean Lombardi also confirms that Matt Greene is done for the season.

Bummer for MG :(

Why do we waste picks on smaller guys that have no chance of playing in LA?

What's wrong with taking a flyer on skill guys later in the draft? Remember that once you get to the 2nd-3rd round, every faller has warts--size is these guys.

They're great AHL players, obviously, and if they can translate, great--if not, they become trade assets, because other teams like their skill.

I was hoping Lombardi would aim a little higher, but we'll see how it turns out.... they may play better in the Kings system that doesn't rely so much on speed.

Also it would appear there may still be enough cap space left for Buff at the deadline. :naughty:

Who the heck do we sit out with Vinny? I sure as heck am not sitting down any of our Centers for Mike Richards 2.0! I'm thinking there might be another deal coming. But we did get the Michael Jordan of hockey.

Until he changes his mind, why worry about it?

Andreoff, and move Lewis to wing?

Meh, adds some depth. You take a shot with Vinny in a lesser role and see what he has left.

Schenn is a bottom pair guy, no more, no less.

Who cares about a 3rd round pick.

Would have loved to see more of Weal with the big club. Hope he gets a shot in Philly and can do well. Interested to see how he is used by the Flyers.

Aiming higher requires giving up assets we either don't have, or can't afford to give-up

I thinking that won't happen. As part of the deal my guess would be he signed saying he was leaving already. Otherwise the deal wouldn't have been done.

Assuming VL plays, how will our lineup look?

Lucic-Kopitar-Toffoli
Pearson-Carter-Gaborik
Mersch-VL-Brown
AA/Nolan-Shore-Lewis

Kings will probably send Forbort and Mersch down now.

King-VL-Brown
Andreoff/Nolan-Shore-Lewis

Nolan plays RW, Lewis can play all positions, Andreoff plays LW/C.

I understand his frustration and the 'burning desire' has been in most of his interviews, some are the petulant child variety. He signed with the Flyers to play for Lavvy and he got canned 3 games into that first season. And Vinnie began pouting right away, he didn't like Berube, too tough on him. Whined when he was moved off the top 6, that he wasn't ' comfortable' in the bottom 6. I get he was pissed because Lavvy was gone ,but he's a professional being paid ALOT of dough and should have manned up.
I hope he does find some part of his game in LA, but he's not a tough player, and has lost some of his game, the West. Conf. is a lot tougher than what he's been used to.
So we see how he fares, as long as he doesn't make mistakes, and cost the Kings points, I guess he can make it to summer.
But he really is weak playing defense, or defending himself of the puck, something that both Hasktol and Berube has issues with ,I'm sure Sutter will as well.

Fun facts of the day:

Lecavalier played in 7 games this season for the Flyers.

They were 0-6-1 in those games.

Lecavalier had one assist and was a -1 overall.

The Flyers were outscored by 18 goals in those 7 games.

DL does it again.

Please bookmark this thread when we are lifting the Cup again in June. We finally got a solid defensive D to shore up the blue line and Vinny is retiring at the end of the year anyway.

Tony and Buddy are right, and the rest of you are overreacting. Think about it and repost, please.

I have no problem with Weal and a 3rd being shipped out.

You calling Schenn a "solid defensive D" is just ignorant to what he really is, and plain wrong. He will hit, or attempt to hit. He will fight, or attempt to fight, but he is NOT as good as you think he is.

Maybe LA can turn him around, yes he's likely better then The Hoff defensively, but he ate up valuable roster space, even at 50% retained. Id much rather have seen them add a Polak, Gilbert or hell even Cody Franson who I despise.

I hope Im wrong, but I expect to hear you cursing Schenn in the not to distant future when you realize there were much better options for the same price.
