If I were the other GM in any trade with Dean, I'd be saying "I wonder how this will eventually come back to bite me in the ass." Because it will. Always looks good at the time.

Weal has done absolutely NOTHING in LA. Doesn't even have an assist. He'll be out of the league in a year.

The Third hurts more given the Kings incredible drafting.

Luke Schenn at $1,800,000 is a great depth deal.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Dean make another move at the deadline.

No, of course he won't be 'out of the NHL ' in a year. Players need stability and reg minutes to help them grown their game when the come into the NHL . he didn't get that in LA, 10 games, aver 8 min TOI per game wasn't going to amount to anything. Hexy knows Weal well enough to know what he got in Weal, a fast, smart player, who when given the opportunity has a knack for scoring.
Sutter had the team he wanted, Weal wasn't given the stability required to develop his NHL Game. He'll get that in Philly.

Don't get why you feel the need to piss in his cheerios and wish him out of the NHL.

the 1.8 doesn't make Schenn a great depth deal, not given how consistant he's been in turnovers, poor decision making and costly mistakes. Even 8 min a game will expose him. And he's playing in a much tougher conference now.

It was insane how folks doubted that trade. Everyone should have learned by now that Dean has his **** together.

Meanwhile, with Boston getting healthier, Colin Miller has been a healthy scratch, Martin Jones has been a roller coaster...funny how little people are talking about it now eh. It's almost as if this DL guy knows what he's doing.

#kings and #flyers were working on that trade for the last 3 weeks. Last 48 hours were crucial to make it work. #tvasports

I thought we would never see an old Matt Greene again. Aaaaand of course we get someone even worst LUKE "EFFIN" SCHENN! Like someone said we should have just kept Richards. I was a huge fan of Richards.

Lifetime AHL player. Has done NOTHING at the NHL level.

Weal made some nice moves at the AHL level.... but almost by playing the percentages.

When I watched AHL games I saw him do some real fancy stuff, and also **** up abit.
Say like an 80% chance his move would work, and in the AHL if it didn't not only is there less of a chance that mistake will be capitalized on, but more goals are scored anyways so each hurts a little less.

Move that up to the NHL level, and especially with a coach like sutter, he is simply not allowed to make mistakes. The penalty for that % where it doesn't work is harsher both on (lost possession and goals against) the ice and off (with the coach). I think the combination of less room for error, and less chance that his moves were going to work against harder/faster competition meant that Weal wasn't going to be able to show anything.

Perhaps with more opportunity to make mistakes, and more time at this level he would start to work things out, perhaps not... But sure isn't going to happen here. I always liked watching him play when he was successful so hopefully he gets settled in somewhere, though he may never have the skill to play his game at the NHL level.

the Kings get a center that was dying to get out of Philly that can still play, and a decent enough defenseman for next to nothing, and they're both gone after the year.

not sure why everyones so upset

I think with Philly he'll get more minutes and a chance to work out more, as he isn't getting crushed with the piano of cup expectations in a defensive system. His improvisation doesn't work well at the NHL level yet, but it also certainly wasn't going to work with 4th liners. The guy we saw in the preseason was way less nervous, if he shows up to Philly, he'll be a good third liner imo (i know I know, preseason). I think he can carve out a career.

I wasn't big on Weal we already experimented with him when he was also known as Brandon Kozun and Linden Vey. ;)

Because some people here actually listen to Philly fan's negativity about these two players.
