Flyers fan, glad Vinny played well, and hopefully things will work out with LA. I also loved his comments on your team. As a Flyers fan, I must admit that our organization and fans treated him miserably and it's a shame. There was a lot of irrationnal hate over Vinny of the Flyers board, but the guy was never as bad as some of our posters said (even though he couldn't fit). I think he'll be a good player with you and I'm just glad for the guy. He deserves a decent ending to his career. A wonderful career.

Thanks. Sometimes, players just need a change of scenery. I look for both VL and LS's icetime to increase as the season progresses.

You got yourself a pretty good prospect/player in Weal as well. Hope he does well for you guys.

Thanks, its nice to get some level headed feedback on a player as opposed to the usual juvenile "haha uz waz hozed" posting. I didn't like the way Philly was trying to push Vinny to retire, seems quite ruthless, but they're not the only team to use these sorts of tactics. Perhaps he is toast, but at least he's got off to a good start.

That's not right is it? Two cup wins and a western conference final. That's 41 wins. Losses seem high too.

I did the math quickly, so I might be off.

First year 16-4

Second year: 4-2 over St. Louis; 4-3 over San Jose; 1-4 loss to Chicago (Record 9-9)

Third year: 4-3 over San Jose; 4-3 over the Ducks; 4-3 over Chicago; 4-1 over Rangers (Record 16-10)

You're right 41-23!!

Thanks for the feedback.

Was the line up truly filled with better players this season, or were they just trying to force VL to accept a trade/retirement/etc? He had a lot of healthy scratches.
he wasn't playing because he was flat out terrible. If you are able to put him with 2 guys who can do all the work and feed him he still has a great shot.

We simply have too many roster issues to have a slower skater on the team. Other guys with us can't cover for him.

I saw the interview--not sure what point is being made. Lombardi would have to praise Lecavalier no matter what; that's the only way to handle it. Does that mean DL thinks he's a lock to solve the problems at #3C? Eh. Unless they think Vinny has far more in the tank than evidence has shown...that would be great, but I'm not sure why DL should count on it. Vinny is 35, hasn't played much lately, and has had a lot of injuries.

I'm tempering my expectations. If we get a pleasant surprise, that's a bonus. Schenn was the biggest piece and the focus of the deal IMO. They love their Matt Greene types, and were getting the shakes without him.

Edit: I stand firm that Philly could have gotten more for Schenn, given stupid deadline prices of the past. There's no pressing 'need' to bring up D prospects either, by any stretch; Hextall is the last guy to think long AHL development could harm a career. But it's not really that important.
Maybe we could have gotten a 2nd for schenn...but we are more than happy to have gotten a 3rd for him.

I think there's a long list of players in Philly you could say that about. It always strikes me as a terribly toxic environment to play. I remember being stunned when Vinny signed there after being bought out by Tampa.

Back on topic now, folks.

Dear visitors:

2) Trolling: Do not make posts or threads with the sole intent of starting a dispute. Please note that a person disagreeing with your opinion is NOT trolling. Please keep it civil even if you're sure the other person is wrong. When visiting the team forums, please note that these are fan forums for that team and are here mainly for the enjoyment of that team's fans. Do not visit team forums to cheer against nor demean their team. In other words, if you want to cheer for the Habs and criticize the Bruins, do it on the Habs board. And if someone is doing the opposite on the Bruins board, don't start flaming them to defend the honor of your team. Either ignore it or respectfully disagree and move on. Copying posts from one HFBoard forum to another for this purpose is considered trolling/flaming as well. Wishing injury/illness on anyone (players, members, etc.) will be regarded as trolling/offensive in most cases.

In addition, the post you're responding to says NOTHING about fans, so you're creating a narrative to be outraged about. Only warning.

People do crazy things to fill needs at the deadline though. Like Paul Gaustad for a 1st crazy. And rightly so, if you can go for it, you do. People on this site in particular overrate prospects and picks. But we've been there too, especially at rock bottom.

No kidding. Remember when many here, as well as the other site lost their collective **** when we traded a 2nd round pick for Brad Richardson?

It's HOCKEYSFUTURE. Odds are a great number of people are lured here to talk about the prospects, drafting, etc. of a team or in general. I know I was. It's not surprising people will view a 2nd highly, when it reality it's actually not that valuable of a pick (more so to some teams that draft well, such as LA).

The new acquisitions are working out like those with sound logic expected them to, adding depth and playing decent minutes, thus alleviating pressure from the top players.

Meanwhile, the reactionary fools on the main board were displaying their lack of reasoning and comprehension in claiming the Kings got fleeced.

Agreed, these were perfect depth moves.

Not very many of us expected these moves to light the world on fire. Just provide depth, they have done that in spades.

To be quite honest i couldn't believe the alert, I knew they weren't going to be top 6 or top 4 in their respective areas but i knew they'd likely be good adds. and I'm glad my initial reaction was right...so far. :naughty:

I certainly didn't expect Vinny to be a 3C but my god. Didn't expect Schenn to be 3D minutes either but here we are.

Both guys are getting better instead of worse. Guess the Philly media/blogosphere is gonna be quiet for a while ;)

Vincent doesn't even have his sea-legs yet. He's sucking eggs after every hard shift. Wait til this guy gets in the flow for a few weeks. I couldn't be happier with the moves, at this point.

 That's not going to happen.
