16 of their 29 goals have been on the PP.

2 have come SH.

That means only 11 at ES.

That doesn't seem sustainable.

Thanks for the stat update.

So Kase loaned out to Chomutov affiliate SK Kadan a ~week ago?

Duno how I missed that!

Nice to see though... he'll get 2nd line minutes there I imagine instead of 4th line.

Kids are doing great. Surprised Ghost with only 1 point with all the PP we have had.
Hard to score on the PP if the forwards can't get you the puck.

Really good game for Sanheim. That was one of the most aggressive games I've seen him play. WHL doesn't track individual shots, but he had close to 10. The space he creates with his feet is stupid.

I can't imagine the Flyers are too thrilled with his decision to stay there. Hopefully he comes to his senses & joins Niagara as the year progresses.

Video made by bigwhite06 to highlight 2 recent games by the draft eligible Jake Bean, but obviously there is plenty of his partner Travis Sanheim in there as well...

While it is obviously very early in the season, the bolded is very impressive to me. Even though many are overage players in the junior leagues, it is still good to see them putting up big numbers. Cooper Marody is a guy that I will be keeping a close eye on. He is supposedly and excellent and fast skater. I think someone wrote that he was one of the fastest guys in the draft but playing in the USHL took away from his draft stock. Something like that. Hate rooting for guys that go to UM but I'll make an exception.

This is what catches my eye:

Philippe Myers - 12GP 5G 5A 10PTS +10 14

Still no buzz on this guy, but those are ridiculous numbers for a 18 year old who went undrafted.

First 100 junior games: 2 10 12 -4 66

I've talked about Myers too much. Almost think I'm overrating him. He's a good looking prospect.

That sums it up right there. He was not an offensive guy his first 100 junior games. Not going to get too excited based on a 12 game stretch.

These posts are always my favorite. I always get excited when I see someone (especially defenseman) exponentially improve their production from one year to the next. It's a sign of rapid development- Sanheim and Morin come to mind.

And he didn't become a skill guy overnight. Maybe he wasn't in a position to put up points his first two years of junior but going over some old posts and articles Myers has always been described as having good skill. I think we're starting to see it come together.

Maybe, but again, in a 12 game stretch, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions. If he keeps it up, great. Then I'll get excited, but 12 games just doesn't do it for me.

EDIT: Don't take this as me saying he sucks or isn't going to keep it up...it is just that after the first two weeks of his post-draft-year season I am not going to say we have ourselves a steal or anything like that.

Thanks for the great gif. :handclap: I looked up the game stats and they have Sanhein with 6 shots, although I'm sure he attempted several others that weren't on net.

Is it just about seeing him put up numbers though? Because if he stays healthy and with the way R-N scores, he should put up 40 or more. I just watch the kid and come away very impressed with the way he moves, handles the puck, and takes away space from opponents. Am I proclaiming him the next Mark Giordano? No, but to say I'm not excited would be a lie.

40 points total would be very impressive if he plays the full season. For comparison Morin had 31 points in 54 games in his draft year +1.

You can be as excited as you want, I'm just always skeptical with these things. He went undrafted and barely put up 10 points in his first 100 junior games. What are the reasons for this? Playing time? Supporting cast? Physical maturity? I don't know, but something caused him to be unable to produce and for scouts to pass on him 200+ times in the draft. I know...scouts make mistakes every year and it doesn't mean anything. But I'll wait to get excited about this guy until he puts up these points consistently. And again...I'm not saying he won't or he can't, I'm just saying I'm not going to include him in any future plans for the Flyers until he does.

Lets hope he can turn into an asset. Whether its on the team/Phantoms/Trade.

Not bad for effectively our 8th round pick. ;)

I do think that in the last few years some of the prospects who have not been drafted would indicate that they should go back up to 9 rounds.

I mean... since the lockout we have had between 210-213 players drafted each year.

Notable guys (200+ games) drafted later than 210 overall from 1990-2004:

F:

Pavol Demitra
Anson Carter
Richard Zednik
Michael Ryder
Radim Vrbata
Tomas Holmstrom
Mike Grier
Steve Sullivan
Matt Moulson
Jonas Hoglund
Paul Gaustad

85 players in 15 years, almost 6 extra guys a year with decent NHL careers... heck, you could make two pretty good NHL teams from that collection of players!

Here are my thoughts on Myers.

Yeah he didn't put up points in his first 100 games. But maybe he also was not in a position to do so. Or maybe he was uncomfortable in his growing body. Or maybe he is a late bloomer. Or maybe this is just a flash in a pan.

Reality is, we don't know. But I did see some RN saying that he looks so much better this year. And he must. How often would a 6'4 RHD get passed thru a draft if teams thought he had NHl level upside.

At one point, Sanheim had 16 points in 52 games. Certainly not as low as Mysers, but then he got more icetime and ran with it. Maybe Myers added strength which gave him confidence. And then the coaches saw the difference in his play so upped his icetime/offensive situations.

All I know is that we added a RHD prospect to our group of kids. It's a lottery ticket. But to win, you gotta have a ticket.

How nice is it to see we have:
#1 scoring D in WHL
top 4 scoring D in WHL
top 3 scorer in OHL
top 5 scorer in MHL
top 10 scoring D in the QMJHL

Not sure wher guys like Lindblom, etc are.

Plus, all the goalies are looking solid so far.

Not much to complain about with our kids. The McDovin' injury sucks though.

Oh they do track them now I guess. On the broadcast they said he had 7 sog at one point in the 3rd and then he had a few after that, but yeah its hard to see sometimes if they are on net or blocked, or wide. I think he's starting to realize nothing good is going to happen unless he or Bean has the puck.
