Also, Ghost has made at least 5 Giroux-like passes this game that could have easily been goals. He has 1 assist so far but it could easily be more. Very nice to see him playing so well.

Watching Ghost is like watching the defenseman version of Giroux. It's a treat. He's so creative at finding ways to beat everyone on the ice

I've thought the same thing.

It's going to be amazing when they're playing together.

Plus Sanheim.

Plus Provorov.

Plus Konecny.

Plus morin.

I can't wait.

Just because a kid is better than a veteran doesnt mean that a kid playing in the NHL too soon wont hurt his development and prevent him from reaching his max ceiling. We've seen it time and time again (Hi, Luke Schenn).

Hextall don't play that.

There are also any number of star defensemen (and HHOF d-men) who had starting roles in the NHL before they turned 20. Yes you can rush players too quickly, but you can also inhibit development (or waste years a player's career) by continuing to give them time at a level where they've either plateaued, or simply become too good for.

Lashoff. Blows the PP and then takes a penalty. Sounded like Morin made a nice play before that to Martel, but the stream was too busy showing fans.

Lashoff is dumb. I can't wait for Hagg to come back so he can sit

When the Phantoms D is healthy they should be really good

MacDonald - Gostisbehere
Morin - Alt
Marti - Hagg

And you watch these players how often? Who are you specifically complaining about? Because I think it's clear from watching these players they are all playing at the level they should. Maybe the 3 CHL stars would be better off in the AHL. Unfortunately that isn't an option. But CHL is a better option than NHL for all 3.

Much like the parent club, this team can never maintain pressure in the offensive zone. It's always one and done.

I wasn't speaking specifically about any single player. I was just arguing against the idea that players need to spend a certain amount of time at certain levels in order to maximize their development. Every player has different development needs, and it's up to the club management to identify those.

These refs...............

Both of the Phantoms media guys I follow on twitter thought the refs let Hershey get away with murder in the last part of the third.

Apparently Rankin is getting released from his PTO. Hopefully that means Bardreau, Cousins and McDonald are almost healthy.

Just checked some of the ages of what we consider some of the best current defensemen in our league (past and present), most hit the NHL in their 20-22 year old seasons with a partial season (Weber, Subban, Keith, Lidstrom, Klingberg).

There were a couple outliers, both are extraordinary skaters (Karlsson, Doughty).

Then there are a couple like Hedman, Giordano, Pronger who hit the league early and took some time to develop.

Depends on the player. There is no magic formula
