It blows my mind that Fletcher and Flahr viewed him as AHL ready at age 18, after a meh junior season. That’s aggressive for even higher caliber players. They felt themselves so hard after the Covid AHL season with Foerster and company. Just adds to the flavor of the pick. Tuomaala still hasn’t proved he’s a Liiga caliber player at age 20.

But he tore up the Finnish juniors last year as a 20 year old… that production won’t translate to the AHL? :sarcasm:

Just remember, Flahr is still here.

Actually, he had 5 points in 10 junior games. He tore up Mestis, a 2nd tier pro league that you’ll maybe see a draft eligible 2nd round pick play in -- like Jani Nyman, who went 49th a year ago and had 35 points in 34 Mestis games at age 17. Do you know how many drafted players played in Mestis last season (> 5 games)? A 21 year old unsigned 5th rounder from the WHL, a 17 year old 7th rounder, an 18 year old 6th rounder, a 19 year old 6th rounder, and a 22 year old 7th rounder. And Tuomaala.

And that's the first time Flahr has worried about something or someone being overweight.

Anyone want to take a stab at what the phantoms lineup might look like this season? Should be a fun season.

not sure of the specifics but I guarantee you the first line, and the one getting all the important minutes, will be all AHL contracts. Maybe even the first 2 lines......Because there is nothing like watching players with absolutely no NHL future (or skill) run around (not skate) like keystone cops

Like last season with Foerster, Lycksell and eventually Desnoyers in the top 6?
You want to pair prospects with AHL pros who'll help develop their game, Anisimov was a great addition last year for that reason.

Marody, Brooks, Avon, Gardner, Lycksell, Brink, Wisdom, Tuomaala,
Mete, Grans, Belpedio, Ginning, Samson, Millman, Zmolek

A little thin at forward right now.

Foerster makes Flyers, same for Zamula, no-one else probably does... so to start the season probably something like:

Wilson-Desnoyers-Brink
Lycksell-Brooks-Marody
Wisdom-Gardner-Tuomaala
XXXXX-Avon-Gaucher

Ginning-Attard
Mete-Grans
Zmolek-Belpedio
Millman-Samson

Petersen
Sandstrom

I guess they will add ~3 fwds on AHL deals before start of the year. And probably add an AHL goalie in case Sandstrom is claimed.

I think Attard, Brink and Desnoyers have a shot in camp, Attard most likely b/c he's at an age where they might want to see if he has a NHL future.
Brink lost a lot of PT due to injury and Desnoyers is only 21.
