What is classified as a meaningful contribution? Kakko I thought had a down game but was noticeable. Lafreniere was very involved. Had chances. Worked hard. Skated well. What is your realistic expectations on a given night? I don’t see an issue with their game.

Overall, more than what I'm seeing.
Yes, it's hard to quantify, but they aren't driving lines, they aren't creating repeat chances and they aren't providing a 'spark'. They aren't 'bad', but they are just 'there' for the most part and that's concerning when they are the best prospects we have

I don’t know anything, even any rumors, that would lend credence to that statement, but if they did try they didn’t try very hard.
They literally came out and said point blank they tried to trade him and there were no takers for him unless they retained his salary and then took back trash. When gms say the only deal available had us taking salary and not helping the team that tells you there was no market. Not sure how you say there were no rumors or anything to lend credence when the org literally answered questions about this in interviews. Gorts was a lot of things but he knew how to communicate through the media if you paid attention to his words.

Gallant is not the coach to get us a cup. It is what it is. He will have a lot of gaffes. His system is outdated.

I hope I'm wrong... I just have a hard time seeing this team win it all playing this way. It's not a roster issue, it's an plan/execution/management issue.

Trocheck was 15-4 on faceoffs tonight. 78.9%. HOW IN THE f*** DO YOU NOT PUT HIM OUT THERE FOR THE PP IN OT?!?!?!? That is wildly negligent by Gallant. Wild. And what happens? Zibanejad loses multiple draws leading to virtually no zone time for a 4-on-3 PP. I am a Gallant guy but that is so so bad.

I can’t believe Geo is gonna win a Cup without putting any work to get his team there. Well he’ll have to put in work this season, but my point stands lol he’s lucky we didn’t trade him to Arizona. Show some damn respect. We traded you to Colorado!

I'm not going to sour on Gallant just yet. Think thats premature. We just went to ECF last year and lost in a shootout to the Cup champs. Lets slow that roll a little bit.

To the Kakko, Laf complainers, Kakko was the best player on his line tonight, and has been for the last few games. Hes getting better, but hes not at the point where he should be the best player on a line YET. If Zibanejad and Kreider didn't forget how to play hockey and were totally abysmal during slumps, they'd likely have a few goals.

Top Players go through slumps, but ours have GOT to find a way to not be the worst players on the ice when they are. Not scoring is one thing, but killing every play when its on your stick or not creating anything in terms of chances or momentum is another. A slump at the wrong time when that bad could derail a season or a playoff series.

Like I've said, no need to hit panic buttons and sound the alarms after taking the Cup champs to a skill como, but certainly some red flags to keep an eye on if I'm Rangers.

This often goes overlooked. Sitting for extended periods then asking 'why do they look stiff'
Bingo. And this is exactly why I complain about our kids not being worked into special team rotations bc NHL games now are spurts of 5v5 play and then spurts of special teams. This leads to guys sitting for periods and then being sent out on the ice and playing like shit bc they are iced and stiff. That comes down to deployment and these are things you work to evolve right in camp and through the start of the season. Now we are seeing the issues more with the deployment and usage but now a level of panic is going to set in bc the team is sitting 3-2-2 7 games into a generally cake schedule and they damn well better win tomorrow against a crappy islander team or they are staring at a 500 record against trash to start the year.

Look, the team took it to the Avs second period on. Like they heard MacK snicker at Emily's question about the lack of speed. They played with much more pace after that interview. They could've won it in OT had the power play not been so one dimensional

That's crap. It is so a roster issue. We don't have a full top 9 and a weak bottom 3. Look what happened when we got Copp Vatrano and Motte .

Usually I’m not very positive however we probably should’ve just beat the best team in the league/defending champs and it’s still early in the year. Take a step back the Rangers are contenders.

Maybe Igor wouldn't have to stand on his head every game if the defensive pairs were different.

Just a thought.

It doesn’t help Schneider stunk last year, and he has stunk this year. Now, I guess it’s fine that he’s taking his lumps. They let Miller do it, and it has worked out.

There’s also no one in Hartford coming up on D. Hopefully Robertson shows well in Hartford to put himself on the radar later this season.
