Seriously where are kakko and Lafreniere? They’re playing top 6 mins. Where is the production. The excuses are gone

The shootout attempts were no better than what jimmy vesey would have given you

1st and 2nd overall. Go make some plays. Game after game goose eggs
They are pedestrian unfortunately. Their skating is a huge hindrance and neither has improved enough in that area to allow whatever talent they may have to shine through. I've tried to be positive about both and for the most part Kakko has been good and had some bad luck. It's unfortunate but they aren't going to ever be what we hoped for IMO.

They literally came out and said point blank they tried to trade him and there were no takers for him unless they retained his salary and then took back trash. When gms say the only deal available had us taking salary and not helping the team that tells you there was no market. Not sure how you say there were no rumors or anything to lend credence when the org literally answered questions about this in interviews. Gorts was a lot of things but he knew how to communicate through the media if you paid attention to his words.
That was after the incident.

There are two main issues as I see them and it's the same issues that plagued us last year:

1) We rely too much on Igor to stand on his game in and game out. Solution: switch up the defensive pairs. Our top-4 has been the same for a few years now and Igor still has to make spectacular saves to bail us out. Maybe switch shit up a bit? MAYBE? How about K'Andre-Fox; Schneider-Lindgren; Jones-Trouba?

2) We can't score 5-on-5. Solution: well, the solution was hoping that guys like Laf, Kakko and Krav would justify their draft status. Now? I mean I guess you switch up the lines again and keep trying to find the magic formula. Reunite Chytil (when he returns) with Kakko. Try the Kreider-Zibanejad-Laf line again. Even try Krav with Panarin and Trocheck. And get Reaves out of the lineup and bring up Rydahl.

BTW, I'll surprise everyone here and say that Igor was our best player today. Spectacular game. Now that it's over I won't harp on one of two puck misplays I remember by him in his career. As much as that sucked when called upon to do his main job he was flawless. This was Veniza Igor. I don't think anyone sane will say we got outclassed today but also no one sane will say that Georgiev had the more difficult saves.

That's the problem. We rely too much on Igor. How many f***ing games are we going to rely on him standing on his head to keep us in the game?

Ya know, I'll call a spade a spade in that my patience is eroding, however I'm trying to hold it together.

But I'm still a long ways from giving up or souring on either.

I think Kakko is closer to (finally) breaking through but he's been dragging around a couple cast iron ploughs this last stretch.

When your 1st line plays as poorly as ours did 5v5 tonight against a great team, you’re gonna lose most nights.

Gallant needs to hold Mika and Kreider accountable when they’re playing like trash. And they did play like trash tonight. Instead, he force fed them minutes at the end of the game when it mattered the most.

Right, and at that time they publically acknowledged there were issues prior to the headline incident. I'm not sure how much more clear "last chance" can be.

As I said there will be a time more of it comes to light.

Usually I’m not very positive however we probably should’ve just beat the best team in the league/defending champs and it’s still early in the year. Take a step back the Rangers are contenders.
I think we're 'contenders'

We'll be there. Just like the New York Yankees are contenders. Doesn't mean we'll win it all.

Eh, not really. The D wasn't very good in stretches this season but before this game he hasn't had to stand on his head. That was the problem if anything. He just wasn't engaged enough in the game. Their problem to me right now is far more the dormant offense. I bet our analytics are still pretty good. I also felt like the play in terms of possession was 50/50 this game, though Igor faced the tougher saves. But they did not look out of our league.

When Chytil comes back, the Kid Line needs to be put back together faster than Voltron
I agree somewhat... but then what? Zibs line goes dead. Panarin plays with who?

Panarin Tro Laffy are producing chances... they need to start putting the puck in the net though. I'd give them time.

I have no clue what to do with Kreider Zibs Kakko. It depends if Kreider and Zibs are 'in the game' or not.

Very on brand to promote Kravtsov after doing whatever the hell he’s been doing.
+2 and the decoy on the game tying goal
Krav hasn’t gotten a game with better linemates than Goodrow & Vesey this season. Kreider has gotten plenty of opportunity and sucked. I’d give Krav a look with Panarin, promote Laf, demote Kreider for a game. We need to shake things up
