What Buffaloed said but also he suffered a bad achilles tendon injury before the draft. Wouldn't surprise me if it takes (took?) him 2 years to get back to form.

Plus, VGK are pretty stacked at forward. He wasn't going to be granted top minutes to begin with.

When healthy. The problem is when they all fell due to injuries, Debordumbass still refused to try Krebs at his natural position. He even went as far as to put in a 4th line plug (Howden) in a top 6 center spot rather than just try Krebs at center.

Krebs was never going to develop properly for the Knights imo. They also played mind games with Glass as well.

And this is coming from a Knights fan.

Americans set to dominate first round of the NHL Draft - TSN.ca

Bob had Krebs at 10. Turcotte, Dach, Cozens, and Zegras were 4-7.

And that is post injury.

It’s still the Jack Hughes Draft - TSN.ca

At the midterm Bob had Krebs at 9, one spot ahead of Zegras.
Reminder that McKenzie doesn't actually produce his own rankings. IIRC it's a compilation of rankings from head scouts from 10 NHL teams, so a more accurate indication of what NHL scouts across the league think than what a ranking service or source like HFB posters (there are some extremely well informed ones) can provide.

So basically they gave him the Reinhart treatment

I definitely agree, here. The guy who can sell you polluted air because you need to breathe in before you pass out. Krueger seemed like a sales merchant and not a coach. He could be a motivational speaker without knowing the game. I just never sensed he had a pulse on coaching. His message was always about the room environment and the emotional spectrum of his players. Which you need, but not as it for the head coach. I remember hearing that he left the systems up to the assistant coaches. Which I find as a joke. It makes you wonder that Hall was emotionally fragile and needed coddling constantly which he loved playing for Krueger because he got it in that form.
Good point. Those seem like the type of players you don't win with and really don't want on your team.

Oh, it's ok, buddy. We'll go home and talk about it in the morning. You were great tonight but we still a few things to work on. GTFOH. This isn't a little girls league. Man up. Put forth some effort and get it done.

Golden Knights' prospect Peyton Krebs' drive to improve led to 'unbelievable' workouts with Max Pacioretty

“What was the one thing I didn’t really do? I only got one shot on goal and it was off my face,” Krebs joked over the phone last week with The Athletic. “So I said to myself, ‘OK, who has one of the best shots in the NHL? Well, Max Pacioretty. OK, well, I want to go work with Patches. I want to learn what he does with his shot, and how he works with his stick.’”

Krebs skipped returning home to Alberta for the summer and instead spent his entire offseason in Las Vegas. He worked regularly with Pacioretty, who led the Golden Knights in goals in each of the last two seasons.

“It’s been unreal to be around him and watch how he works,” Krebs said. “This has been my best summer of training in my whole career, so I’m excited to get things rolling.”
--------------------------------
“He’s probably the most driven player I’ve ever been around,” James Patrick, Krebs’ coach with the junior-level Winnipeg Ice, said, “as far as wanting to be better, wanting to be the best, and wanting to play in high-end situations with no fear. He’s confident, but he’s so driven. He puts in the work. In all the years that I had him, there was not a rep of a drill that he ever took off.”

Most mornings this summer, Krebs and Pacioretty began their day with a workout over Zoom with Pacioretty’s personal trainer, Ben Prentiss. After that, the two would meet at City National Arena for on-ice work.

“It’s been unbelievable,” Krebs said. “I can’t thank (Pacioretty) enough for offering to do that. I’ve just been so dialed in. Ben (Prentiss) is an unbelievable trainer, and we’ve been working on some different things that I’ve never done before.”

Not only has Prentiss helped Krebs with daily workouts, but he also designed a personalized diet for the Golden Knights’ top prospect, cutting out things like dairy and gluten.

“I switched my whole diet,” Krebs said. “It hasn’t been easy but I’ve been on it for about a month now and I feel so great.”

A shift-by-shift breakdown of Peyton Krebs' NHL debut for the Golden Knights

Krebs was on Tuch's line in that game.

A couple of interesting articles from The Athletic on Krebs.

That’s certainly interesting to hear. What are your thoughts on the future of the Knights after this deal?

Can we get rid of the /LW in the thread title please? It's triggering me. The trade hurts much less if I'm allowed to keep telling myself he's a center and that's final.
hehe I think your going to see organizational emphasis on center in the next draft, but thats years away from helping. Probably why we see MANY center experiments ie Thompson, Quinn, signing Jankowski, etc.

"Only" the one assist tonight against WBS, yet still third star and all sorts of the high-energy, puck pursuit plays he's known for again tonight. Him finding some chemistry so quickly with Quinn is intriguing to imagine down the road.

It was a beautiful 1 assist, though.

The short breakaway that he drew the penalty on was also all about him attack with speed and driving the net. (I don't have that in a video snippet.)

Krebs' no-look there was really effective. He made all 4 opponents think he was sending it back to the point while Quinn snuck in back door. When he gets the puck he immediately puts his eyes back towards the point and keeps them there - so 3 of the 4 put their sticks in that lane. they all also stopped skating thinking the puck was going back up top rather than aggressively covering Quinn or even puts their stick in the crossing lane. He even gets the low defender to switch his stick position out of the crease and crossing lane, then fires it across to Quinn. Krebs made that really easy for Quinn. Kudos to Quinn for getting himself in the right spot. It all happens in a second or two, but that is some great hockeysense from Krebs.

So when he does eventually come up where do we slot him in the line up at first? 3rd line center?!please not at Wing. Debomoronic tried him at wing and it was a failure - sure it was a smallish sample size but please play him at his natural position. What Blysma and Hously ( on tablet butchering names, sorry) did to Reino by forcing him to play wing stunted his delevoloment for years. Then they put him at center last year and he was beast.
Please don't do that
to Krebs ,Donny.

P.s I don't catch most Roch. Games . Is he playing center?

Someone has to play 4th line center. But like the Drury/Briere glory days, we can think of it more like rolling 4 lines.

Id like to see Krebs with Okposo and Girgensons next season. Flank him with the two vets, both in contract years. Even though its a "4th" line its gonna get 10 to 12 minutes of ES time a night. We may not see more than 1 or 2 of our forwards getting 18 or more minutes a night the next few seasons.

He's a bit faster than I thought, but the tenaciousness and playmaking are elite, like I thought.

Gabrielor, Jester, and others, do you like Krebs potential more than Turcotte ? Definitely more than Zary/Pelletier ? Was he 3rd of your ask list after Zegras, Byfield ?
