Friedman: Pettersson says he’ll only re-sign if Canucks have successful season

I don't think what he said was completely outrageous.

Having said that, the trend of Canadian teams having to deal with less enthusiastic players continues.

We need the next CBA and salary cap structure to level the playing field for Canadian teams somehow. And for that, Canadian teams (and Canadian hockey in general) needs to put a more united front on these issues.

Rangers were very high on him in 2017, we should be all over this.
Perhaps a package consisting of...

(Trocheck or Chytil)
+
(Kakko or Lafreniere)
+
(Schneider or Miller)
+
(Othmann, Perreault, or 2025 1st)
I think that Canucks need to lure Kravtsov out from Traktor to be included in deal. If no, no deal.

Canadian teams do it to themselves by constantly higher below average personnel to fill key management positions. This ain’t a CBA/salary cap issue. It’s a poorly managed team issue

Didn't he say something along the lines of only signing a short term deal last time and re-evaluating afterward based on the state of the team?
This seems like more of a reminder of his previous mindset if that's the case.

If a Swede doesn't want to stay, who have been known to be loyal... Your organization has big issues.

Us Canucks fans know this. Benning has set this franchise back 10 seasons. It would not surprise me that any player from the Benning regime would want out. At this point its all about getting the Benning stench out of the organization. If it means getting rid of EP+Quinn and going for a full throttle rebuild, I think most Canucks fans would be happy.

Players always reference how toxic social media is, Pettersson talked about it with the OEL buyout. I wonder how many players make these kind of comments as a mind-f*** to get back at the fan bases that trash them all season

He's an RFA, he really doesn't have much leverage. Worst case scenario Vancouver gets a haul for him.

Wow. never really seen this type of call out before.
You could say he put the writing on the wall with a can of spray paint.

Since 2020 Edmontons win 1 more playoff round than Vancouver.

Since 2012 Edmonton has won 2 more playoff rounds than Vancouver.

These teams are not that far apart, we’ve seen the too end talent frustrated on both ends
Canucks have made the playoffs 1 time since Petey has been in the league...the bubble playoffs where the Canucks turned out to be a mirage

Oilers have made it 4 times...the situations aren't comparable at all

every year we hear the Canucks are supposed to "take the next step", and every year they managed to embarrass themselves
maybe Tocchet changes the fortunes of the team unlike "Bruce there it is" Boudreau...

can't blame him! Who would want to stay in Vancouver.
Canucks should be able to get a good haul for him anyways.

rebuild the rebuild lol

He has been losing on shitcrap Benning (the guru) teams for a long time now. It's a clear message to send to the management group and owner.
