If he's asking for $14 million I'd trade his ass and give the money to Draisaitl instead.
So if they miss the playoffs he's gone.

You have to think Boston would be all over that, I don't know how they do it because the cupboard is almost entirely bare But Boston NEEDS a center.

Vegas too, because Vegas
Boston has no assets and are no longer a contender.

The only reason Boston isn't a contender is because they don't have the center needed.

If they landed Pettersson they become a contender

They aren't far off

Good on him to keep the pressure on Alvin and Rutherford. The franchise has been coasting along for far too long.
The sad part is they actually tried to improve the team....it was just so horribly mismanaged. Pettersson sees the roster and knows they have no chance. He’s just preparing the fans and organization for his departure.

the canucks had the 5th best record in the league the last 25 games of the season.
That was mainly a reference to the fact that last season played out exactly the same, and had lots of takes just like yours going into last season...

But, it DEFINITELY won't happen a 3rd time in a row, right?

... right? :rolly:

So a couple of busts and picks. Yea that will get it done.
Slafkovsky is a bust? Did anyone else in his draft class even play 10 NHL games? If his birthday was later he would have been picked this year... Only on HF boards would a player 1 year out of his draft be a bust. Especially a big guy who has never played in north america who was always going to have a longer development curve. For a player that doesnt potentially want to be there and can get to UFA pretty easily its not a bad return. Not ideal but sounds to me like Pettersson and all the rumors I heard about him check out. Incredible talent, meh personality. Lots of pressure he put on his teammates for an individual situation. Lets see how he plays.

Thats like saying every team that isnt a contender is one super star away from being one. They arent easy to get. I am suprised they havent gone after Scheifele though.

All the Nucks can do is be sincere about being in win now mode and have an administration that EP has confidence can get the job done. If he won't sign now he has to go.
100 percent they need to get ahead of it.

Wow. That's alot of pressure he just put on that organization for no reason. Could have kept that to himself. Ungrateful player.

Feels to me like a declaration of intent to move on to greener pastures, as the Canucks strike me as a team outside of Wild Card status. Prove me wrong, canuckleheads.

Well, all the best to him with whichever team he eventually ends up with should the worst case scenario come to pass. As a fan of a Pacific division rival, I'll miss seeing him as often as we do now. He's an electric player when he's on his game.

His comments are fair, though I think Vancouver could be the surprise team this season

I like Boudreau but he did a poor job last season and was deservingly dismissed

No not really because they already have the top 4 D, and the wings and the goaltending, It's literally ONLY the center position

The problem with Slarfkosky is he is not even close to NHL ready and is being force fed into the NHL.. Just because he is playing NHL games doesn't mean he is better than other players picked in the same draft. It means his team has no clue on how to develop him. Unfortunately we have seen this movie script far too often in Montreal lately.
If he is such a great talent why is he being included in all most every trade offer I am seeing coming out of Montreal? Now he is being included in a deal for a 1C which Montreal would have had if they drafted Wright instead of Slarfkovsky.

And fans wonder why many leaf fans are relieved Mathews signed an extension. Players are taking more control over where they want to play. Feels like all Cdn markets are at risk from lower taxes and nicer weather. Bit surprising given the Canucks look to be getting better but he comes across as a pretty hard headed guy.

I mean there's lot of buzz that Sportsnet feels they overspent on the last Canadian NHL contract, and felt like it wasn't worth it, who knows if the NHL even gets a better one next time.
Agree with this. Would also say that if the economy tanks (seems likely to me, but YMMV) one of the first things that people give up will be the expensive ass hockey tickets. Also a smaller factor is how hard it is for cord cutters to access league content (and I'm willing to pay!) would seem to potentially hurt league revenues.

Boston has no assets but are definitely still a contender in the East. Until their defence and goaltending fail, don't expect to see them at the bottom of the standings.
