We know Wilson is safe forever because of his insane contract but Oke could be in jeopardy here soon, he's has an awful few months here.

Reasons 1-8 are all giving Wilson an 8 year contract.
#9 - Owen Sound/Addy trade might be really bad
#10 - handling of early OA situation/Sztuska
#11 - hopefully things change on this one but holy shit does anyone think Bryant is actually any better than Lefebvre/McIntyre so far?
#12 - he gave up how much for Jenken, who should absolutely not be an OA next year/should barely play this year
#13 - why aren't any or Cadorin, Turcotte, Lee-Stack here again?

I'm probably still missing some.

...and this is giving the benefit of the doubt on Young and Taylor turning into players and the 07s we were so excited to get last year not being a case of everyone dumping their problems on Oke.

Getting Bryant was a pure desperation move and honestly it wasn’t worth moving picks because he’s really no better then Lefebvre

Sigh. Ula should be playing a lot more than he is.

I honestly forgot Jenken was on the team. I thought it was a rookie callup. He seems invisible out there (not in the good way of old school d-men who just do their job quietly). They need something, anything, from anyone on the roster. Fitzgerald is the only bright spot right now. There seems to be a major lack of leadership. From coaching down to captains. How can they be so lifeless game after game??

Just looking at the games Pete's have played so far there are a quite a few close games there.
Closer look at your vets-
Lefebvre was a 15th round pick- 2 goals as an OA. Bryant isn't the answer 1 goal in 5.
Melee has never been a big point producer but he's .5 pts/gm as an OA
McIntyre has 5 points as an OA
McCallum has 4 points, Partridge has 3, Page and Faulkner have 2.
Import has 3 points.
1 Elite defenseman in Cameron who has to play against other team's best every night and he's an 07. Other than him none of the D would even crack other top eastern team's top 6.
I'm not sure what fans expect this year when most of your best players are 07 and your best is an 08.
I don't care if Paul Maurice was your coach Petes have the most underachieving group of vets in the OHL plus they play in a strong East where Kingston and Niagara are both exceeding expectations.
Play the kids and be happy when the games are close.

You are right on. Petes just are not good enough this year and everyone needs to relax and accept what it is.

I think people would accept that if they seen some progress with a lot of these players but that simply hasn’t happened yet so what’s there to look forward to next year? Sure these guys will all be a year older but they’ve yet to show any sign of improvement so far this year and the vets next year are gonna be worse than the ones they have this year. I don’t see any 05 on this team that would be worth keeping as a OA next season other then maybe Bowen

Exactly what I was going to say. We knew they'd lose a lot. But it's the way they're losing. It's the awful coaching, poor management decisions and lack of any development. Also the lack of any fire/inspiration on the ice. That's what is troubling to me.

I've said it before, but the last 2 months of last season they at least looked like there was progress and reason for optimism. It didn't carry over into this season.

Also a smaller crowd again last night. If they want fans in the building there needs to be a reason for them to come. Not to watch listless players who are forced to play the Wilson system and put everyone to sleep. And score 1 goal a game. I just want to see some life out of this group.

The thing is that Wilson's brand of hockey is terrible to watch. I said this repeatedly even when the Petes were winning. It's all scrums in the corner and pucks up the side boards and off the glass and 1-1-3, minus the game breakers to capitalize on the counter attack. He's never shown the ability to develop offensive talent and even when they won, it was largely on the back of imported forwards like Othmann, Hayes, Beck, Stillman, Lockhart etc... plus his defensive systems and Michael Simpson.

At the time when I called this out, I got a lot of push back that ultimately the winning was worth it and in the playoffs, that awful defensive system can definitely come out on top.

As season ticket holders though in a 3-4 year cycle, we're watching 100-150 regular season games of an awful style of hockey that has very little entertainment value and I think more and more people are wondering if it's worth the investment of watching so much soul crushing, boring, no forecheck, no creativity hockey for 150 games (and say $2500) for the chance three years from now where the stifling system results in a playoff run is worth it.

I have confidence that Wilson will develop the defense and keep goals low and Fitzgerald is so good, I think he literally can't miss. But beyond that, I just don't know if the forwards have the raw ability or the coach to become the base offensive players for a playoff run down the line. The only "homegrown" impact offensive forwards on the championship team were JR Avon and Tucker Robertson. So it's no surprise that physical defensive players like Mayer, KSmith, McCoy, Spearing and Dubois flourished under Wilson's system, we're still waiting on proof he can bring out the best offensive skill in young players and in fact most young offensive players (Lardis, Van Volsen, Taylor, Addy, Cadorin) have stalled out here.

I still really like the 07/08 group the Petes have, I just hope they can overcome Wilson to find their offensive games and give us something interesting to watch.

does anyone on this team get moved at deadline for a fresh start I’m sure they would jump at the opportunity
I’d move Matejicek if someone wanted him other then that who are they gonna move? McCallum? Who would even have value around the league not many guys you’d be selling low on guys like Taylor and Addy can’t see them doing that.

I try and stay positive and focus on the positive.
However these are extenuating circumstances-
I don’t know if trading for different players will help. Besides -not sure anyone would agree to report.

We have the the top lads from 2007 on our team and our coaches can’t seem to coach them.

These kids are the best 2007 had to offer -if our coaches can’t work with this talent then trading for other players is probably not going to work.

I don’t know what the solution is -it’s so bad right now I don’t even know what to say anymore.

It’s a sad time to be a Petes fan

Would they trade him? He seems to get more ice time than anyone else. I can't figure out why. How many times a game is he way down in the offensive zone? The coaches must okay it, but he has no offensive ability to speak of, and then he's sucking wind trying to get back to defence, so I'm not sure why he's deployed like that. Wilson must love him, because he's out there all the time.

I mean he’s not back next year so if someone comes calling and is willing to give up a pick or picks then I don’t see why not. I agree he plays a lot obviously he has Wilson’s trust plus he’s the oldest guy back there. He’s obviously playing way too much but on a contending team he might be a nice veteran addition for a playoff run. Looking at teams who have open import spots Sudbury, Niagara, Kitchener, Saginaw
