I’m not sure we’d be atop the list to host the Memorial Cup. The Tournament is all about money and arena capacity and I can’t see Peterborough building an arena with a capacity over 4,300-4,500 and we’re a small market.

Unfortunately I don’t see the city making this a priority anytime soon. Imo it would have been a smart move to build a bigger facility with the new twin pad incorporated but we all know the route they went.
The seating capacity plan that was recommended by the consultants and accepted by city council was 5,800 fixed seats. Your reach for an arena like this is the entire Peterborough Region which is around 140,000+ people including the 90,000-100,000 city population while also focusing on the future growth which sees Peterborough continue to grow significantly as both a region and a city

We can blame anything we want for our losing ways.

We can blame:
-players
-egos
-selfishness
-the GM
-the coach
-the old arena
-the ownership
-Board of Governors.

But c’mon people we all know it’s that sad stale “glorious” that they play after each goal.

That’s the real reason we are losing.

We just need to settle down -Wilson, Oke et al want to win.

Their goal is to win -they will figure it out.
They are more desperate to win than anyone. They NEED to win -it is their careers, their livelihoods and their hockey reputations.

Sacking everyone now sets us back even more.

Besides no coach/GM is going to want to come in and coach next year’s team-as we will likely be struggling big time with everyone graduating.

This is true. It's not like Wilson and Oke planned for this and are trying to lose. They want to win. Everytime we lose its tough as a fan considering the underperformance and feelings of what ifs and missed opportunity but we have to stick together and be there for the journey hoping things turn around. Now in 5th place, not an enviable spot and they all know that. The issues are not known which makes it even more frustrating. Oke and Wilson want to win, and so do the players. Time to unite, no matter how hard it may be.

Zebra I would add conditioning to the list of complaints. The Petes have some good skaters but don't seem to have that extra gear. Maybe with a team full of 19 and 20 year olds, many of them "elite" or established OHL players, the coaches are having a hard time getting the players to get in game shape. Just a theory based on what I see.

I watched the Ottawa-Gatineau game and even with Ottawa being one of the top team in the O, Gatineau had their way with the 67s. The Olympique are big, fast and work their asses off not to mention mean MF-ers. The Petes are more physical than Ottawa but if the Petes were in better condition, I think they could ramp it up.

Another theory based on the last three Mem Cups and the two recent Ottawa-Gatineau games, the Q is the top Junior league in the country right now. They get good coaches and they have their pick of players from both Quebec and the Maritimes where hockey seems to have blossomed in the past 20 years.

I'm an outsider here, but watching the game yesterday, the Petes struggled in their own end.

I still think they will figure it out. I was watching the warmup and I think the talent is similar to last years Bulldogs up front. The biggest difference was D. They should dominate a team like Hamilton.

Also, wasn't everybody saying that Oke did a great job at the deadline right after all of the trades? Now everybody wants him fired?

Back in the 2005-06, Steve Downie introduced Team bowling night.

The team would go bowling together every week-I think we need something like that again.

When a team is struggling, cant give 1st goal away and then allow that 2nd goal from blue line with no screen.

There is ZERO sense firing the coaching staff in an effort to win this season. You’d be stuck with whatever that staff is next season and the following 2-3 seasons whent he team will be pretty much starting from scratch. It is far better to ride out this coaching staff and make a decision at the end of the season who would be the best group of coaches to rebuild the franchise. Oak may or may not be the right guy for that job. But, anyone they bring in mid-season to “turn things around” is likely not the best option to rebuild the franchise starting next season.

Good Point.

This team doesn't even deserve to make the playoffs. They could take a lesson from the teams behind them who actually put effort in and care about playing as a team. The trades they made have made them worse. All the talent doesn't matter if they don't care about trying to play together. If they get through round 1, it'll be a miracle.
