really not too bad when you think about it
Really? Totally disagree how is this not bad? We lose our 7 top scorers off our roster if Lockhart and Robertson do not return. Why would they play an overage season on a basement dwelling team when they could play elsewhere and make money? We also lose 5 of 7 defenceman.

Thats my point its not very good we got taken to the wood shed on our trades.Petes 27 points since trade deadline,13 wins, 14 loses . Mississauga with 8 rookies30 points, Hamilton with9 rookies 36 points Were in 14 th place in points accumulated since trade!

Yes the future is bleak which we know. I was saying that at least the draft going into the rebuild we have every pick except a 2nd. We will recoup some assets but I was never disagressing or arguing that we weren't in a bad spot when it comes to available picks/ players

I know you referenced Ottawa not trading any players but they also don’t have any 2nds, 3rds, or 4ths in 2025 or 2026. They will likley recoup assets along the way but there is a price for not trading players and only trading picks. It is unfortunate that the Petes had no real option other than trading players but they still have a reasonable amount of picks and should get some back next year.

It is unfortunate that the Petes for some reason have not managed to translate their talents into consistent winning but they did acquire quality players. Sometimes the GM does what they can do and then it is up to the players to figure it all out and perform. Need look no further than the Toronto Maple Leafs. IMO, Dubas has done jsut about everything he can. Now it is up to the players to prove they are capable. Same goes for the Petes right now. The players need to step up and be responsible for their effort.

jesus is an OA
Yes. They had an OA spot available. They could have kept Panwar and Lardis and trades depth picks for Jesus. Fill their OA spot with a solid two way D-Man with size. Keep the other two on hand.

OHL refs again just horrible in Ottawa this game will get nasty just unbelievable garbage ref favouring Ottawa sickening, Mr Hache your a joke

I know he was always getting suspended, but watching last night and tonight makes me wish so badly that Guryev was still a Pete.
Me too this league is garbage

Too many rental players. It's hard to argue that any of those were good trades. I understand why they were made, but those trades have hurt the team and will continue to do so.
Agree fire Oke fire Wilson

Derrick Walser if you are reading this PLEASE STOP the drop pass on every single damn power play. It does not work ffs.
You are 100% right -that drop pass doesn’t work for us

Also we need to go 5 hole on that goalie MacKenzie -it’s the only way to beat him

I know he was always getting suspended, but watching last night and tonight makes me wish so badly that Guryev was still a Pete.
When he was a Pete the opposition behaved.

No shenanigans by the opposition-they were too nervous/ afraid of Guryev-who was a total loose cannon but I loved him anyway!

Great game tonight for Simpson. A few highlight reel saves.

With Sudbury beating Hamilton in OT and Missy losing, no answers for Petes other than home ice is locked up. Petes can play any of Hamilton, Missy or Sudbury. WILD!

A few thoughts on last night's game....

- as OMG67 mentioned, Simpson was super and IMO did a nice job helping his Dmen by stopping pucks behind his net and efficiently clearing them

- Solid effort by the Petes.....hung in there all game......a good sign despite missing Avon and Zanetti

- The Petes won 59% of faceoffs - that's a good sign

- Othmann confounds me . He just seems so nonchalant out there. Too much floating for me and he needs to give up the fancy stuff - no more blind passes. I have liked the physical play lately while avoiding penalties. Great job at drawing penalties too. But he was a team worst - 3 tonight and Ottawa's first goal was a perfect example. Less than 2 minutes into the game the puck is rung around the boards in the Petes' zone towards Othmann near the hash marks. Rather than stop the puck and get his head up to look for an outlet pass, he tries to get cute with the stick between his legs trying to deflect it to Robertson in the middle of the ice. He misses the puck, it goes to the 67s Dman, shot on goal, rebound, and 67s open the scoring. IMO he lost some 5 on 5 shifts during the game because of these issues.

- I expect some guys may get a rest against Missy. The Petes have home ice for round 1 which is great. All of Hamilton, Missy and Sudbury will be a challenge but if the Petes are healthy and can consistently play the way they are capable of then in 5 or 6 games they should win. Then, assuming there are no 1st round upsets, they will face the 67s in round 2 and that should be a fun series.

I was at the game and agree that Simpson played really well. He always seemed to be in good position to make saves when the 67s were buzzing around in prime scoring areas. At one point the
Shots were 18-1 for Ottawa, so he definitely kept Peterborough in the game in the 1st.

Othmann made a beautiful pass on the first Pete’s goal but I didn’t notice him afterwards. It’s possible he wasn’t played as much as you pointed out.

If I were to make a quick assessment of what is troubling the Pete’s, the defense often had trouble clearing the zone and limiting Ottawa to the perimeter. Ottawa was able to penetrate to the inside frequently for good scoring opportunities. Offensively Peterborough was dangerous on the rush and on odd-man chances, but had trouble maintaining possession and pressure in the o-zone and generating opportunities that way. Credit to Ottawa’s team defense for regaining possession and clearing quickly (it’s usually one of Ottawa’s strengths) but i would expect more from a team with Peterborough’s firepower.

Peterborough’s PP wasn’t able to generate much, for the most part.

Best of luck in your first round matchup with Hamilton.
