I liked the Petes effort as well and played with the 67s most of the game and outplayed them as well at times. But the Petes aren;t winning games and that has to do with coaching in my opinion.

The Donoso injury was an unfortunate accident and it looked like he was at the edge of the blue paint so the league will have to make a call.

At this point only Mississauga can get home ice over the Petes. May come down to the Saturday game and the Petes will be tired no doubt
Hamilton who play Sudbury are 2 points back of Petes if Hamilton wins and Petes lose next two their tied Mississauga has 3 games left with 68 points if they win all 3 they could pass the Petes if we lose next two in regulation thats why I don't agree with these games don't mean anything ? 0f course they do, home ice

The Petes put themselves in this position no one to blame but themselves. This team has talent but no consistency and no discipline! Time to step it up or fade into the offseason , no excuses, several players need to step up their games and not be passangers.

Does any one on here have information on what the Petes draft picks for this summers picks are?

Ottawa is more disciplined than the Petes

Ottawa is typically really aggressive trying to force the play so they have a tendency to take a lot of stick fouls trying to force turnovers. More tripping and hooking than anything. It is frustrating at times but they are aggressive at least. They keep their feet moving. It is the main reason why they’ve been successful. They have some talent but it is the no quit attitude that tends to push them through the right games.

1st
3rd -Sar
4th -Sag
5th -Miss
6th -OS
Then they have the rest of their picks except the 12th is Guelph’s

That is how I see it with the Donoso injury as well. Dubois just wasn’t looking and collided with him. Just not sure if that matters to the league with the way they have made some of their suspension calls.

Hamilton can’t go ahead of the petes even if they win tonight and the petes lose remaining 2 games. Tiebreaker goes by ROW which Petes have over hamilton

really not too bad when you think about it

Provided Beck returns next year, they should get a lot of the draft pick holes filled in. They are missing their 2nd from 2023 through 2026. They’d likely get three 2nds from 2024 through 2026 in a deal for Beck.

The challenge next year is icing a roster that is capable. They have so many graduating players. Their top picks from the last couple drafts were traded. It’s gonna be a hard reset.

And I believe the Petes hold the tiebraker over Mississauga too

Yeah. I would be surprised if Missy runs the table and Petes lose their last games. That is what needs to happen for Petes not to gain home ice. It’s possible with Missy and Petes playing each other but it would be rotten luck.

Oh ya it will definitely be a bleak few years no questions there. If Beck is back that is absolutely huge but I really have no expectations at all for next season. First line LW would be Melee. Will be very very young. Have to hope that some others guys like McCoy, Smith can garner some decent value on the trade market but it is some challenging years ahead. Have to hope Petes catch some draft steals and can speed things up a bit but will be open season for all young guys to play for spots

ALSO, should be noted that Tucker Robertson and Connor Lockhart still remain unsigned so there is a possibility that they could return as OA's which would get some big value back as well.

I think that is a possibility. Both are good players though. It is tough to think they won’t get signed but stranger things have happened. Lockhart is on the small side so possible that Vancouver takes a pass on him as a deeper 6th round pick. I can’t see Seattle taking a pass on Robertson though. Even at 5’10”.

Does any one on here know what picks we gave up in Trade deadline and picks we aquired?

Be shocked if Lockhart signed

I agree there. I would be very surprised if Robertson wasn't signed too as he has showed a lot of strides this year and is a top player in the OHL. Lockhart is 50/50 because even with the solid season he is having and a change of scenery from Erie, I think the size will hold him back and could see him returning. Have to imagine Robertson is signed but if not, Petes should in theory get a ton back for him too

I don't agree Ottawa held on to their young 06 players we lost our 1st overall round picks in Lardis and Van Volsen in back to back years
I was only referring to our pick situation for the upcoming draft. Aside from that yes, we are not in a great spot when it comes to picks and young future players

Good chance that Mayer also comes back as an overagers

In fairness, Ottawa had a few years a while back where they compiled picks. Then when they were in contention in 2019 and 2020, they didn’t blow their brains out. It cost them a championship in 2019 When Guelph did blow their brains out.

Ottawa was fortunate to have a deep roster last year in the double cohort season which translated into extra bodies to start this season. They managed ot add to their draft pick cupboard trading away a few pieces through the offseason.

Unfortunately for the Petes, they weren’t as well set up to make a run from a trade asset perspective. They were forced to use actual players because they were shorter on picks. We can debate whether they made the right deals etc but if the Petes were going to make a push, they had to trade the players they did. I’m not a fan of their deadline moves. But, I do like the Beck trade. He will be a relatively free rental this year provided he returns next season. I think he Petes will get a similar return for him next year that they gave up for him this year. That was the type of move I wanted to see Ottawa make. There is some risk that he sticks with the Canadiens but that risk is still relatively small.

My personal opinion is they should have kept Lardis and Panwar and traded for a solid stay at home type OA D-Man. I think they’d have been able to get someone like Jesus for a 4th and 6th. They didn’t need to add Hayes and White and definitely not using Lardis. I think Jesus would have been a far more responsible acquisition, not jsut for this year but for next as well.
