Actually not bad at all!

Totally surprised by the Petes they looked so much better against this team than I thought they would

I was expecting a much stronger opponent-but nope.

If all they are missing is their #1 goalie then this is not the London I was expecting.

We are down 4 players AND are wiped out physically AND emotionally AND we were playing in their barn -London should have run away with it -and yet they didn’t

We only dressed 17 players -that’s practically a forfeit for lack of players

London should have clobbered the Petes-but they didn’t

Lots to work with here -
Your team was shut out. I think the Knights played the game they wanted. Defence first. When you don’t have the firepower your plan is to shut down the other team’s. And they did.

The Knights played well and when the Petes are playing their game well , they play a similarly underwhelming defensive style , not too flashy but just good defensive coverage, clogging up the neutral zone and own zone.

The Knights were on the Petes quickly when the Petes had opportunities. On the positive side for the Petes, they will only get better as the series goes on, adjusting their game for the Knights, adding Gauvreau in Game 3 and playing at home where they seem to play with more energy, likely because of the noisy fans :)

Pretty dull game. Not unexpected in game 1 where they are feeling each other out. And both teams focusing on sound defence.

I'd like to see the Petes put more pressure on Bowen. More shots. Have players there for deflections/rebounds. I think if you're dealing with a rookie backup in the finals, you should make that goalie prove they can handle it. Maybe he can, but, pepper him with shots and see how he responds.

I'm not too worried after game 1. Petes will obviously need to be better tomorrow night. Coming home tied would great. If they come back down 2-0, I wouldn't say it's over, not with this Petes team, but certainly a split would be much better.

I think it needs to be mentioned again...the PP. What the heck is wrong with this team and their PP? It is mind boggling for a team to be so, so terrible with an extra man. Especially when you have the talent they do. I just don't understand it. But, we've been saying that all season. Normally in tight games you're excited when your team gets the power play. Not with this Petes team.

London plays a lot like Ottawa imo. Well-coached, with really solid defensive structure and a lineup of good players that can play with pace both offensively and defensively (not coincidentally, both Ottawa vs. London games this season were entertaining and went to a SO). All things being equal I'd expect the series to go down sort of like the Ottawa-Peterborough series did, and for the record I picked the Petes to win in 7. However, the playoffs can be a war of attrition and I worry about the toll that the injuries to key players and suspensions are taking on Peterborough. London is a deep team and as the series goes on they may just continue to wear down Peterborough and capitalize on Peterborough's thinner lineup. Peterborough needs more production on their PP opportunities.

I was at the game last night. Good solid playoff hockey by two really good teams. Petes had a couple of really good chances but not much puck luck. Knights capitalized on theirs. There wasn't a ton of really good scoring chances either way during the game which I expected based on both teams' focus on defence. Should go 6 or 7 I think

Spearing was imo the most important player during the Ottawa-Peterborough series. He was critical in keeping Ottawa's forwards on the perimeter in the o-zone, clogging up the middle of the ice, and getting sticks or bodies in front of pucks. Also, he was very adept at the executing the n-zone trap that Peterborough deployed against Ottawa, which really limited Ottawa's ability to get pucks in deep or let their forwards get in on the forecheck with any sort of speed or pressure. Most of Peterborough's defense corps was good that series btw, but Spearing was certainly the most noticeable.

I think Spearing's absence is really significant for this series. Huge credit to him for taking one in the face to help his team win (like, seriously), but there is a big hole on the back end for Peterborough. Hope he's back soon. Otherwise, I think London will just keep grinding away and taking advantage of their manpower and depth and racking up close wins in a tight series. In the Ottawa series, Peterborough was able to capitalize on their scoring chances, which were at a premium on both sides. They were lethal in taking advantage of Ottawa's mistakes and getting timely and opportunistic scoring. That, and capitalizing on PP opportunities, needs to be their focus to try and keep the series close until they get some bodies back.

BREAKING NEWS: Section5Petes will be in London Saturday night loud and proud!! GO PETES GO!!!!!!

Can't say I hope you see them win ;), but I hope otherwise the experience is a great one. Should be another close game where a bounce here or there will dictate the outcome.
Head down early n enjoy the area around the arena (Old South, Richmond row)
Grab a bite to eat pre n post game around the arena instead of the concessions. Lots of choices within 15 min walk.
I'd buy you a bevy at the game but in TO that night so gave my seat away.

Uggh. These penalties. Petes looked good but my goodness, you can't take those types of penalties in this type of game! Hope they get out of the period only down 1.

PS: I gotta say, I didn't see that as a major penalty no matter how many replays they showed.
