Michael Simpson moves on to Penguins' main camp, the youngest of 7 goalies
Konnor Smith moves on to Anaheim's main camp.
Beck will be heading to the Habs main camp.

Not sure about Mayer (LA) or McCoy (CAL).

I just watched the OHL’s 20 in 20 profile on the Peterborough Petes. During the interview Rob Wilson spoke of Connor Lockhart, Sam Mayer and Michael Simpson as if they were going to be relied on to be key members of the team this coming season. I draw the conclusion from this podcast that the three of them will at least start the season as the Petes overages. Everyone is assuming the Petes will be rebuilding this season but Rob did say in an interview in the Peterborough Examiner that the Petes may not be rebuilding this year. I had thought prior to listening to this interview the Petes would keep Lockhart but would trade Mayer and Simpson and keep Jax Dubois and Cam Gauvreau as their other two overages but know I am starting to think they are going to go with the higher end overages to at least start the season. I may be wrong and all three could be traded early in the season but I doubt it. I still think the Petes will trade Owen Beck and maybe Konnor Smith at the deadline. If they traded both of them I could see us getting two young players and three, 2nd round and two, 3rd round draft picks in the deals which would help replenish our draft picks. If they decide to trade Connor, Sam and Michael it would be at the deadline. Similar to what Hamilton did.

I think there is too much invested in this year's team to let them completely bottom out. They sold out of season tickets and have momentum in the city that they haven't had in quite a while. They will have that at least through the banner raising and the early parts of the year.

I can see them keeping the top OAs as long as they can, let Simpson steal a few games, Lockhart and Mayer be among the best in the league at their positions and win some hockey games. Maybe we get some unexpected developments and some big steps forward along the way.

Honestly, I think they have to, because Wilson's system without the game breaking players to make it bearable at the front end/on the counter attack would... not be entertaining

Beck to the soo for a 2nd and third. At a minimum that would be the return for a guy like Lockhart I would think

While Beck is looking good at Habs' camp he'll be back and the good news is that he will be looking to put up bigger offensive numbers.
This quote from the article linked above is probably the most telling

"Between the two of them, Roy stands a better chance of actually earning a roster spot on flexibility alone. He is allowed to be assigned to the Laval Rocket at any point, whereas the NHL’s agreement with the CHL would require the 19-year-old Beck to return to the OHL should he not play for the Habs."

They’d be selling the kid way short by keeping him in the NHL this season. He has yet to dominate the OHL and be ‘the guy’ to lead an OHL team yet. He would be better off coming back to the OHL, eventually be traded to a contender and play a key role for the WJC team.
Assuming Owen Beck is sent back to the OHL, which many believe is highly likely, here is a way too early top 6 potential destinations for Owen Beck if he was to be traded at the 2024 OHL trade deadline. These deals try to take into account past rental deals and are purely speculative with some being more reasonable or more doable than others. These deals assume it is simply just Owen Beck being dealt, although it is of course likely someone like Konnor Smith or Donovan McCoy (or other veteran players) could be included in a deal with Beck as well.

I do not think the Petes will get two players for Owen Beck. I expect they will get a good 16 or 17 year old plus multiple draft picks. I think the draft picks would have be a minimum of two, 2nds, one, 3rd and a 4th round draft pick. However if he came back and was among the OHL leading scorers the return would be a lot higher. If Peterborough was to get two, 2nds, two, 3rds and 4th round draft for in a deal for Beck they have pretty rebuilt their draft pick cupboard in one trade as they only need 3, 2nd, two, 3rds and a couple of 4th round draft picks to do so. It is important for their rebuild that they get a 2nd and 3rd for the 2024 draft in any deal and use those picks to select two good players.

Soo definitely will be moving both Kostov and Brown if they are taking a run, for sure.

From the Soo's perspective, Martin is probably their most valuable young player, but I am not sure they would be willing to move him. Virgilio would be next, probably followed by Brown, but there is a big gap between #2 and #3.

I am not sure the Soo would win any bid for Beck that didn't include at least Virgilio. Even then, it might not be enough if other teams are willing to commit their 2007 born first rounder.

Not saying Owen Beck is Mason McTavish but its pretty safe to say that they will both be the top fish available at their respective deadlines. This was the return the Petes got for McTavish at the 2022 deadline and was somewhat used as a blueprint for a Beck deal. AND FWIW the sheets has been updated after some engagement to the post.
