I'd play Holland on the third line, he's showing glimpses of goodness. McClement while he can sometimes create a puck possession game in the offensive zone, is usually dead tired sometime later in the game and takes a penalty because of it.

McClement will never be an offensive forwards, Holland can develop into a good one. Play McClement stictly as a 4th liner and let the younger skilled center play between Kuli and whoever.

Holland hasn't been bad by any means, I just don't think he's being given an opportunity to play with big minutes.

He played a top 6 role for what...3-4 games? and he got a goal in that time. He has one less point then McClement so far, and now he's been stuck in a 4th line playing 3 minutes because we have goon McLaren playing.

Coming over from another team, it will take more then 3 games to show what you got, and he hasn't played bad enough to cost us games either. Don't know why he's playing on the 4th line instead of McClelement.

ita. i don't get people saying he's looked horrible and he'll never be an NHLer. i mean he hasn't been fantastic but he's had some nice moments. i feel like he could be good for us. anyway i won't just write him off after a few games or anything.

You guys need to stop defending Carlyle... His micromanaging of the bench is why we see so little ice time with multiple players not just Holland where players effectively get cold sitting on the bench playing 5 second shifts at times. He burns players out and stales others and you wonder why this team is playing like it does? That's your answer folks.

Geesus H dimi, give the coach a chance to get this player acclimated, he is fighting to keep this team afloat.

I'm not sure it's wise to lean on someone who is still getting to know the teams system of play.

He's played more than 13 minutes once. Once.

I'm going to be uber pissed off if he ends up playing 25 games and he averaged only like 11 minutes of game time.

I agree, he will probably never be a PPG guy but he thinks the game incredibly well for a young guy, plays a smart 2 way game, which is surprising because he came with the baggage of being a poor defensive forward. I like his low panic level, he looks like a NHLer, if he still has room for development we might have a keeper here. :yo:

Yup .. If he keeps this play up, he'll overtake Smith on the depth chart

Really like his style of play

i agree. i like smith a lot but i think he is overachieving. long term holland > smith.

I agree Smith has been good, but I can't see him sustaining this level of play .. I keep thinking of the game last night at the start of the second where some got in behind the defensive for a mini breakaway from the faceoff dot and had a big chance to score/generate a good chance but he went high and wide on his shot ... Indirectly lead to the puck going back into Toronto's end before Ashton took that penalty

Had a big change to open a 2 goal lead and whiffed on it .. In a game like that you've gotta bury that chance

Holland got some good speed, a good shot, and a solid two way game - I see the Jeff Carter comparisons .. He just needs to learn how to get his shot through to the net (I see his shots get blocked a fair bit) and play with a little more edge

Would like to try him on the wing with Kadri at some point if Bozak and Bolland get healthy and say Lupul is out

I'm interested in where he'll be with this team in the future. Considering Bozak isn't moving from the 1st line unless he's traded or bought out, I don't see him in our top 3 if we decide to keep Bolland and Kadri as our 2nd and 3rd line centres.

Obviously injuries has allowed him to play with the team now, but I see him as in the same situation as Joe Colborne before we traded him.

He'll have to show me a lot more before I'll designate him a Leaf legend, go ahead though and raise him to the rafters of your bedroom ceiling.

The amount of "pressure" and b.s. this kid is going to go through to live up to a 2nd round pick with some fans is ridiculous. When Kadri struggled those same fans said "just give him a chance hes just a kid" but the same belief doesn't apply for Holland, he was a bust the moment he put on the jersey for many of you.

This. Too many 12 year olds who play NHL 13 and think they know better than NHL GMs in this forum.

From what I have seen he has played admirably. He is clearly not a bonafide top 6 player yet, but he has the skills to be one. It may take time and patience. Alex Steen took forever to put it together and nobody on the board would turn him down now.

The biggest thing I notice from this player is he doesn't make too many mistakes that cause teams a big time. He has been very good even when he is not scoring.

He can play a good possession and cycle game. If he doesn't have an option for a pass in the neutral zone he tends to circle back and wait for a better option to present itself. I like that better than simply dumping it on every chance we get.
