Wayne/Mark/Paul have no desire to be GM. It's not worth the headache and they enjoy their standing in the city too much. If Wayne wanted a GM job, he could get it elsewhere, same with Messier most likely.

I seem to recall that Messier had made it known he was interested in a GM role, specifically when he was with the Rangers. Regardless, if there is a GM opening, I hope none of these guys get the job.

Chiarelli isn't Lowe post-2006 or evenTambellini level bad. That's just regular levels of suck.

Chiarelli is Mike Milbury bad. He's a generationally bad GM at this point, a person people will look back on him in 20 years and still discuss the bad moves he made.

He's the Connor McDavid of bad GMing.

This. We are witnessing possibly the worst GM since Milbury. Well be telling tales of Chiarellis screw ups for decades (not even kidding)

they had 2 players over 80 points and another with 40 goals

offensive depth wins games right?

It actually didn't even sink in that Barzal got 85 f'in points as a rookie, not even playing with Tavares. My god, that Reinhart trade is legit worse than the Hall trade

But yes. Absolutely not debeatable that the top 6 you quoted would have left us better off thatn we are now. Hell, the Isles (who don't even have McDavid), finished higher than us. Add McDavid and RNH to the current Isles team and theyd make the playoffs easily. Hell, even upgrade Tavares since Hall is better than Tavares

Pete Chiarelli gave up the 2017-18 Hart winner for a Ladislav Smid clone. We gave up an 85 point rookie for a David Musil clone. Maybe once were out of the playoffs again next year itll sink in for you how bad Chiarellis actions were.

Honestly I understand why people feel like Chiarelli and McLellan need to go, but I can also understand people who want stability and feel like we've had enough change. Bobby Nicks was right when he said that if we're make change, we need to make it for the better. There's no point firing Chia/McLellan and then hiring someone who is even worse at their respective position(s).

And for as bad as McLellan/Chia have arguably been, at least they've behaved like professionals during their time here. I don't dislike either of them as people, and I do believe that any decisions they've made have been because they truly thought it would help the Oilers succeed. Alternatively, it was definitely much harder to take this team seriously at times in the past like when Mr. Five Rings went off at that press conference and alienated an entire section of the fanbase.

Lowe was actually a decent GM that wore out his welcome here and is probably to passionate about the Oilers. Tambellini was just a puppet that was instructed to do nothing. Mac T was pretty bad but at least he wasn't giving away core players and his worst signing was Ference and almost Clarkson. Chiarelli is a whole new level of bad. He just took a giant dump on the previous 5 years of tanking and made moves that have practically ruined any chance of the Oilers becoming a dynasty during Mcdavids 20's.

Lowe >>> Chiarelli

There's no doubt, it's not even close. Lowe would make the playoffs every year with no fuss if you added Connor McDavid to any of the teams he had as GM (2001-2008).

Larsson is Smid? Yeah ok.
Since when did we draft Barzal?
Oh yeah, that is in the Fire Chiarelli Handbook of Alternate History.

Yet Another thread thinly veiled as yet another Fire Chiarelli echo chamber.

I suppose the existing 400 Fire Chia Page echo chamber isn’t enough for most who participate here.

calling Larsson a Smid-clone to push a narrative is a weak argument that shouldn't be taken seriously

but can you give me Hallsy's stats last year?

lol at the people who still have faith in this clown GM thinking he's going to lead them out of the desert if they give him more time and keep following him.

You guys are being totally jobbed by this phony. I wonder if Mike Milbury had the same little group that was loyal to him in the Islanders days.

I guarantee their narrative will change the moment Katz (through Nicholson probably) speaks. Otherwise if Chia is fired there better be no less than four or five posters here criticizing the org for doing so, and holding to that for longer than it takes me to ****.
