I'm sure like many times this happens when a bad team becomes good, it's usually the fans that either don't post regularly on their team's board, or they do and everyone can't stand them, that start insufferable threads like the ones you're talking about. I can think of a few examples off the top of my head.

After 5,975 snarky posts by Islanders fans saying they wouldn't pay anything for Eberle because they'll just sign one or both of Okposo and Parenteau for free and be fine...fast forward a few months; Josh Bailey is the best they can do, and it's 'Hey, do you guys think maybe we could make a trade for Eberle??'

It is sorta funny..

Bailey has all of one point less than Eberle n the same number of games, so it's not like it's been notably worse.
