Yea I hope so, I think a lot of people who hate on them don't realize how big of a market it is. Phoenix is the 5th most populous city in the entire United States
Hockey probably works there if they have the right ownership and a literal arena lol.

I feel for the fans who have had to endure this arena saga for the last 10+ years.

He asked why the other poster cared - he did not say that the other poster shouldn't be allowed an opinion.

You jumped to that conclusion on your own.
You're right, because there's no other reason to ask that question aside from trying to shut down that particular line of conversation

Well, based on my username, I've lost two of my favorite teams from the past and I certainly wouldn't want that for anyone. Including Coyotes fans. Over the last several years, I've become a big Preds fan and the fact that another team is temporarily playing in a small arena has nothing to do with any of that.

I just don't understand why anyone would be rooting for any other fans to lose their team.
You can twist it that way all you want but it's not really going to change anything. Regardless, this particular line of rebuttal that's being used by you and others are simply a childish way of trying to shut down conversation. As if we are so tunneled that we can't have opinions or conversations about something unless we are directly impacted,

At the end of the day, we consume the product known as the NHL. For me personally, I'm a supporter of the NHL and want them to succeed and have viewed the continued existence of the Coyotes franchise in it's current (maybe now former) location as something that has stopped the league from reaching greater potential and is a stain on the leagues image and finances. I'm sure others feel the same.

To the contrary - @AtlantaWhaler's response to your version of the question was quite illuminating as to why it matters to them.
And yet @AtlantaWhaler still has no actual connection to the Coyotes, or realistically to the NHL itself, given they don't live in a city with an NHL team.

Again, I was trying to make a larger point about the stupidity of trying to shut down conversation by asking why it matters to that person unless they are directly impacted by it.

Is it surprising that SLC is okay with taking on a relocation rather than an expansion franchise?

... no?

They get a fully built organization. They don have to hire a bunch of staff (well, except for the people who choose not to move), have one entire NHL team under contract and a bunch of draft picks.

this deal makes no sense as reported. it costs everyone money. merulo loses 300m in value. the owners lose 350m+ in expansion fee value

the owners care way less about arizona being a "respectable" franchise than the fans do. the owners only care about money. it's better for every owner to just put an expansion team in utah and let the arizona circus continue

You not liking their reason for caring does not mean that they don't have a valid reason for caring.

I under the point that you were trying to address "about the stupidity of trying to shut down conversation". In fact, that's what I was responding to initially (go back and read it).

We're traveling in circles.

IF.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings and I hear a bell. So far i haven't heard eighter.

No they aren't. They're going to get that expansion fee when Arizona gets a new team once their arena situation is figured out.
