Sarah would be our best left wing.
I would be all over this. I like Elias Pettersson's game. He is the anti-Matt Grz. Exactly what guys like Karlsson and Letang need.I'm fully expecting the Pettersson trade to be something like Pettersson to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson (defenseman) and a 2026 2nd, with Dubas noting that Elias is a near NHL ready contributor that will slide into Pettersson's old role.
It's a deal that isn't necessarily "bad" but is so underwhelming that it just aligns with the rest of his moves. Just thorough meh.
If you are suggesting replacing Sullivan with Quinn, just move it along there BWM!Everyone keeps saying if you fire Sullivan then you gotta just find another Sullivan.
But isn't that why they hired Dave Quinn? I mean... I sure can't think of any other GOOD reasons, so...

If we could get a 2025 second-rounder, of which we do not currently have, and a solid prospect D like Pettersson, he should definitely take the deal.
I would doubt Soucy would be involved in such a deal.Yeah I like what I've read about Pettersson, my point wasn't to say that was a bad deal. It's just meh. It's the same thing as the Guentzel deal, just a pretty meh overall deal that has quantity over quality.
Add on Soucy to make the cap work and replace Pettersson in the short term and I can totally see that deal happening. It's not bad but it's just so meh.
Given the full NMC Rust has through this season, I guarantee everyone would have complained about any return the Pens could have gotten for Rust last year, as Rust would have full control over where he got traded to.Most especially, with the logic, why the f*** did they not trade Rust dumb ass last year?
With the assets added for Eller, the Penguins have 10 selections in the 2025 and 2027 NHL Drafts and nine in 2026. As of now, they have three first- and four second-round picks over the next three years.
The time to trade Rust was two contracts ago.Given the full NMC Rust has through this season, I guarantee everyone would have complained about any return the Pens could have gotten for Rust last year, as Rust would have full control over where he got traded to.
The time to trade Rust will be this summer, when his NMC goes away. (Not saying the Pens will do that, just saying that's the timeframe to do so if you want the best possible return).
The time to trade Rust was before he signed his current deal, imo. The next best time to trade him is July 1st once his NTC drops, and after the dust settles and teams inevitably strike out on signing their guys.Given the full NMC Rust has through this season, I guarantee everyone would have complained about any return the Pens could have gotten for Rust last year, as Rust would have full control over where he got traded to.

I hate when blokes use that like "Oh but if you fire Mike Sullivan, you won't find another Mike Sullivan" and completely miss what that whole saying should mean.Everyone keeps saying if you fire Sullivan then you gotta just find another Sullivan.

I wanted Rust traded 2 summers ago. That would have been the best time, this past summer would have been the time you could still move him without having to retain or add much. Right now unless there are the same teams that wanted Rust back then, that still do now, you might have to add or get a 3rd team involved to retain salary or take back a bad contract that isn't a rental (like another Hayes type of situation). The time to trade Rust was two contracts ago.
It sucked to hear Geno having to say basically "please don't trade me" with his comments about not wanting to be traded, didn't care if they win or lose, he's in for the ride wherever it goes with this shit show. It's depressing watching the Caps successfully rebuild on the fly with a new coach and then see what the Pens are doing. Crosby and Malkin are still good enough to get it done, but incompetent roster mgmt and blind loyalty to a coach long past his expiration has completely cratered the team

That's exactly how I read it tooIt sucked to hear Geno having to say basically "please don't trade me" with his comments about not wanting to be traded, didn't care if they win or lose, he's in for the ride wherever it goes with this shit show.
While I know that there is no way Rust is getting moved for anything valuable now. That is the point.Given that I'm pretty sure the Pens don't have a time machine, or else we'd all be watching Mario, Jagr and Crosby playing in their primes together, then I'm afraid trading him before the current contract isn't an option any more.
Can this garbage franchise leave f***ing Geno alone. That's exactly how I read it too
Which could only mean Dubas has brought it up to him
Rust is just so f***ing cocky for someone in a situation where he has no f***ing reason to be. It's like you know he knows that you know he's protected. While I know that there is no way Rust is getting moved for anything valuable now. That is the point.
I cannot think of a player I hate watching on the ice more than Rust atm. I’ve watched far worse players but man, if I don’t hate watching Rust float around, especially with the companying bleating of fans and coaches going on about how key he is.
Geno has full control over his situation. There will be no trade unless he agrees to be traded. I think Geno wants to say that he doesn’t want players like Rust, Tanger, Karlsson etc. to be dangled/traded. These guys are his friends and he wants to play with them until retirement. Can this garbage franchise leave f***ing Geno alone.

I hate PGH media. Absolutely despise it. I will say...at least they dont say the word "warmies"I wanted Rust traded 2 summers ago. Contenders would still want him for his playoff performances, he hasn't been in one in 2yrs and as much as Rust is a Sullivan glazer galore, I think even he wants to play in the playoffs so he might waive to a team that wants him and is a perennial playoff team, well compared to whatever future the Pens have right now anyway. I thought the Avs would have made sense but they got Lehkonen back and Nichushkin is set to return after this weekend if he's cleared, but their right side could still use someone like Rust.
This was their line-up vs the Preds.
Dubas needs to be smart because if Nashville keeps tanking, they will also be a big seller and whatever ideas of decent returns he has in his pea brain, will become less if he's not shopping his wares a little harder on the market. I'd probably aim for that Rangers 2nd and two prospects from the Avs.
Wtf is a warmies and who says that?I hate PGH media. Absolutely despise it. I will say...at least they dont say the word "warmies"
