Elite scorer sure but also someone who can run the entries like Kessel did…that’s why I want Kane
I still don't understand how a PP with Sid, Geno and Letang can be so bad at zone entries. I mean, I see it with my own eyes so I know it's the case. I just don't understand how that can be considering the skill level they have.

It's not even a case of the player who gains the zone having to be super fast. Guys like Jack Hughes and Mitch Marner aren't necessarily speedy players, but they're able to stickhandle and weave their way into the zone with relatively little issue.

As much as I've ragged on Rust, I don't think that would be a good fit for the type of style Sullivan seems to want from his players.
Contrar, is Rust a good fit to the style Sully wants to play? Hes been mighty floaty lately. And has been bouncing between Sid and Geno to boot!

Rust at least has wheels. Boeser's not Joe Thornton, but he's closer to what we saw out of Tanner Pearson skating-wise. Better shooter than Pearson, but much worse defensively/work ethic.

Isnt Rust like better at everything? Maybe Boeser is a better goal scorer but that's probably it.
Ehhhh.... Depends which version of Rust. Boeser is way better offensively. Both are useless when they arent playing their game now. Change of scenery could do both some good maybe.

Also, Im sure Sully could coach out the rough parts of Boeser's game. :sarcasm:

I think Boeser and Sullivan would be like oil and water. Sullivan would have even bigger issues with his play than he had with Kessel's play, just because Boeser isn't a good skater.

My plan this off-season would be to let Zucker walk and try to find a line driving LW to play with Malkin and Rust. I really love what Zucker has done this year, but I think his performance just screams one year wonder. I'm very confident that he'll become injury prone again as soon as he signs his extension.

I say just go after Tarasenko and re-sign him. Rust+ to the Blues.

Crosby-Tarasenko (I know...but "Rakell", but look who our coach is)
Malkin-Tarasenko

Im not saying we should trade for Boeser, Im just saying its worth discussing, especially with JR now working for the Nucks.

Rust for Boeser, who says no?

Starting to get mildly intrigued by that one.
Boeser is literally just Rust when Rust is slumping - perpetually. Stiff skating, bad defensively, going to the wrong areas of the ice. He's just permanently that way the last couple years, plus more expensive. No thanks.

You will get Myers at his full cap hit and like it.
We wont and you cant make me. But what about Letang for Myers....... :sarcasm:

I’ve been wondering if we should try to get Florida to pay us to take Bob at 50% next summer.

Or San Jose with Couture.

Or Anaheim with Fowler.
Bob?

Other two are at least decent NHLers still. Dont see the Ducks moving Fowler though, he anchors their blueline and shelters some of their kids.

Couture probably just needs out of the Sharks tire fire.

Fowler yes, the other 2? nope.

Fowler-Letang
Petts-Petry
POJ-Rutta

If San Jose offers you a pick say a 2nd and Couture with 25% retained for basically nothing you wouldn’t do it?

Would you take Jarry at 5x5 or Bob at 50% x 2 plus a 1st rounder?

Rather get a retained Karlsson (Petry can go the other way too, even though I like him but I like Karlsson more).

That’s not happening with them paying us. Honestly, that’s the type of deal I’d be looking to make this summer though. Getting paid to take an effective player or an overpaid goaltender unless Jarry is able to prove he can win a playoff series for us.

Jarry. Bob isnt even an NHL goalie at this point. Wouldnt even want him at 2.5mil as backup. 1st rounders are useless until at least a couple more years when this core is completely out of their window. Right now we are only 1 foot out.
