We are above them analytically if that’s what you are going to use.
We are, but not by a lot and they have Shesterkin and I think a better PP. That's why I think ultimately they'll finish ahead of us but who knows. It's all pretty tight right now. Only NJ is pulling away.

I think we'll be a playoff team.

Shesterkin in the playoffs and now the regular season is showing he’s not the greatest goalie ever as predicted.

I dunno. Gallant ain’t a good coach and the Rangers were always going to fall apart after losing the depth they did and having so many career seasons if Kappo and Laf didn’t work out.

True. I don't think he's Dominik Hasek reincarnated like everyone thought. Plus goalies are random af so maybe he's just gonna have a bad year. Shit happens all the time where the Vezina goalie sucks the next year. Goalies are voodoo.

And yeah I don't think Gallant is anything special.

We have a lot of home games coming up and need to make some hay there. I am a bit concerned that we haven't played a lot of good teams yet. Haven't played Nyr/Car/Nj/Nyi for example. How will we hold up in those games? Guess we'll find out.

I'm starting to believe no coach is "anything special" tbh. I don't think any coach is gonna coach a bad team to a Cup, but I think the wrong coach can and will absolutely tank a team's potential. It might be that the best coaches just kinda let their roster do what its best at and stay mostly out of their way.

2. Add Jeff Petry
--Why it is failing? The reasoning was, if Letang goes down with injury, Petry is better suited to be a #1 d-man replacement than Matheson. Petry also added some size and physical play from the backend. The reality is, Letang isn't injured...just awful, and Petry hasn't been anywhere near as advertised. Meanwhile Matheson has looked good in his limited Montreal play (started season injured).

Well this aged like milk.

Nothing will happen. He'll be back in a few days. The "no lasting effects" reported will guarantee that.
Not necessarily. Last time he had a stroke he had to go on blood thinners for a while and was out for 6 weeks iirc.

If he has to do that again, then he will be out for a while again.

It depends what the treatment plan is, and whether doctors clear him to play.

Tests will determine the course of action and how long or short the time frame is that he can return to play. I think they have a preliminary idea here as to his situation but the tests will determine the recovery time to play. It appears he is not at risk as to his career but until he is cleared to play keep fingers crossed. Pens have pocket change in cap space so the remaining 6 D are playing. Now if he does go on LTIR which I don't think is the plan, then yes Pens can add the 7th D and maybe a center like Poulin to move Carter to RW. You never know but worst case is he can't play for awhile or has to go on LTIR.

Can Ty Smith play both sides? If this just means we’ll see Ruh for an extended period, I’m gonna yak. I know the cap situation is still f***ed, but y’know.

Kap did absolutely nothing last night to warrant himself not being dealt to anywhere for anything ASAP.

Smith played RD in junior.

I thought that was one of his selling points, but I know most players would say the same. At least there’s a glimmer of hope he could see some action.

I'm more concerned about him doing it outside of Juniors. He hasn't done it in the AHL. Not sure if he's done it in the NHL, but I don't think he has.

Chances are we won’t even see it. So who cares to argue about it. Sullivan’s wet blanket Ruh will play both sides because he’s a “consummate pro” or some Sullysmaism
