Serious question. We’re in 25th place half way into November. The team is showing no signs of life.
Is there a point when they look at trades to improve the future and not this season’s team?
Rossi advocates for waiving Kapanen and trading for Tanner Jeannot from Nashville.

People pay to read Rossi stuff on the athletic. Huh, TIL.
If The Athletic spent half as much time vetting better journalists as they do implementing the very best paywalls they can on every single fluff piece they put out perhaps I'd pay for a subscription.
lol who am I kidding no I wouldn't.
Honestly they do have great journalists on there. Gentille is great, but they made him a senior guy.
Perhaps you are right but I counter with this...
Rob Rossi.
That's a heavily weighted item in the "cons" side of thing, right there.
Yohe and Rossi do most of the Pens stuff on there. Yohe's stuff is mostly opinion based and he doesn't usually have any insider info, though he is usually good at getting the pulse of the team and letting you know where things stand in terms of how the coaches/players view things. But if you want an idea about trades etc, he's not the guy for that.Honestly they do have great journalists on there. Gentille is great, but they made him a senior guy.

Rossi tries to be the rumor guy but half the time his info is either bad or possibly made up. Occasionally he gets something right.
I honestly prefer Rossi over Yohe. Rossi does good "people pieces" and is a good interview.
Much as I laugh at Rossi I can actually agree with this. Yohe just seems like such a dork-ass toady neckbeard, man. Don't know if he's ever had an original thought pop into his head.
Also I really like Shirey and especially Haase as well. Though I'm with @Pancakes in that my intense dislike for DK keeps me away from a subscription. Though again... subscriptions for ANY of this stuff just isn't much of a priority to me.

Rob Rossi? The dude who regularly makes a mockery of himself publicly to the point where I question if he has a humiliation fetish? The dude who has been so consistently incorrect about things for the entirety of the Sid/Geno era that he makes a complete moron like myself look good? Dude's one claim to fame is that, for some inexplicable reason, Geno likes him and is relatively close. He still gets any and all Geno info wrong.
Don't think there's ever been a single time I finished reading anything about or by Rossi and went "huh, that's a neat little chunk of insight there, somethin' to think about".
I'm dead serious when I say that this team is going to ADD assets this year before selling them. They are going balls deep to keep that playoff streak alive ala Detroit
Rossi's meltdowns and tantrums about changes made during the Shero/Bylsma regime were funny, I'll give the guy that at least.Did you not read the part where he was being compared somewhat favorably only to what is essentially a giant mashed together pile of old cottage cheese, mothballs and other people's terrible opinions in Josh Yohe?
Yohe is just so, so forgettable.
As for the whole buy/sell thing, I think Hextall's already on thin ice based on the stuff from May about FSG not being convinced he was right for the job anymore, and asking him to make a powerpoint presentation for the class to explain his general ideas moving forward.
If anything gets done, buy or sell, I think it'll happen closer to the deadline, if not in the off-season. I think this team's just gonna try and ride out the storm despite the boat already being full of holes and taking on water before the skies even went dark this season.
The whole Rossi-JR thing should've kinda been a wake up call that maybe JR was just some old loon who was randomly throwing shit at a wall and hoping it'd stick. A bit of foreshadowing for when his Midas touch wore off and he had a winning team to manage as opposed to "can't get any worse, f*** it, give it a shot".Exactly. On top of everything else.
The worst kind of offense in what is in the end an entertainment industry. At least Rossi can get the grumpy old half-mad GM to yell at him to go sell ice cream or whatever 19-tickity-two insult JR attempted, there.
"NYAHHHHH! Go sell ice cream ya carpetbaggah! Or I'll pop ya one, see?"
I've been told FSG is very cold and shrewd in their management of teams. To the tune of keeping Hextall around and extending Sully years before his current deal even expired, despite, uhhhhh, tepid success for the past half decade.Remember when they asked for a plan and Hex like tapped his head and said "all up here, dudes!"
Then they made him make a list. lol
