I hated Petts because well, he sucked last year. Sully even benched him for a number of games. He was getting walked and bullied around the net too easily.

For me tt's not about being a size queen. I DGAF if we have 6 Dumos (the good version) who ties up sticks in front of the net or 6 Brooks Orpiks who cross check guys. Do something to eliminate the dude standing right in front of your goalie. Petts was doing neither.

This year has been a revelation. He looks stronger and more confident in his game. I did not see this coming...he's probably on PED's lol
PEDersson.

Oh just you WAIT until Matheson gets healthy.

Then we're ALL in for it Gurgs!

Human sacrifice... dogs and cats... living together... mass hysteria.

It would be funny if Montreal makes the playoffs over us.

I feel like when you look at that team on paper they look pretty damn good outside of the defense.

It would also be funny if Matheson getting healthy absolutely craters their defense.

FSG hasn’t even touched our forward group yet!!! Did you see what they did to the Atlanta Thrashers??? They traded that whole organization when they didn’t step in line. Did you learn nothing from the Panama Papers? Big changes are coming. Do you think a global corporation is going to leave a small organization in a city like Pittsburgh???? Why would they? Step 1 make the organization a losing team. Step 2 relocate??

It would be a hoot. I'd get a nice grim laugh out of it. I really do think MSL has done a great job there and has some terrific ideas. That he will likely abandon after he finds a modicum of real success.

But anyway... yeah... I could also see our old buddy wrecking up their defensive structure pretty good, too. Though frankly that doesn't seem to be the way our luck is gonna run this year.

I know everyone loves xgoals especially Pixies so I'm gonna throw some stats at you. MP has been crazy good this year. Has almost a 60% xgoals 5v5, which I think lines up with the vaunted eye test as well. Dudes been good.

Petry has been up and down. Around 51% xg which isn't terrible.

Letang and Dumo are sub 50% at 48% and 47% respectively. Those are dreadful results for a top pair to have and are a big part of why we have struggled.

In terms of shot attempts, Petry and MP have 51% of those when they're on the ice. Letang and Dumo are also struggling there, 48% and 46(!!) for Letang.

Kris Letang's demise is killing us. If he doesn't figure it out I think we're doomed as a playoff team. He plays so many minutes and we're relying on him to put up plus results. If he can't....we bad.

Their young mobile D is actually a strength…weakness is bottom six depth…all in all, the Pens have better forwards and the Habs are getting better goaltending…if our goaltending remains the same, we definitely won’t make the playoffs

Do the Habs hire non French Canadians? Honest question...Letang and MAF are probably on the short list if they decide to coach.

From what I gather it's very rare and non-preferable and they at least have to speak the language bare minimum.

Seems like a really dumb way to do business but what do I know.

Imagine an NFL team doing that right now? Lol. There's so much under the microscope with diversity.

I know it's different but not entirely if I was more qualified but they choose the guy that speaks French and is French Canadian over me. Bring in @Gurglesons the HR expert

Uh no. Their forward group is great.

Their D is playing over their head insanely.

Maybe Xhekaj, Guhle, and Kovacevic continue playing the way they have. But we will see.

From what colleagues tell me it’s possibly a labor law thing in Quebec. All academic positions (even at McGill which is anglophone) in Quebec require functional ability in French.

I get it, tbh.

It's a cultural thing and of course Quebec has always marched to a different drummer than the majority of Canada. So it is what it is. It just seems like a rather silly self-imposed restriction in regards to running a sports franchise.
