They all should have gone as ghosts. Though Malkin as a dried up old skeleton seems pretty close.
*Sprong
When you compare them to Dumo no but Petry in particular has not been great.
Now he’s 12 games in and it usually takes time for new players to adjust but I would hope for more from him moving forward.
Petry is providing the same underlying analytics as the player he replaced this year in actual heavy usage versus what Matheson provided. The goalscoring isn’t there, but Matheson was awful his first year here
When we have a bunch of 6’2 defensive defenders that actually have weight on their bodies we can talk about how Marino would succeed here.
Petts - Petry has been way better than any Marino pairing in Jersey. Solid win.
Send Dumo to the moon and this team wins the next game immediately IMO.
So does Lafferty. Still don't miss either player. /shrugSprong has more points than Kapanen and Rakell this season.
Maybe 10 years from now he’ll be old enough to play here.

So do I, but this decline was easily predictable and the team just shrugged and sat on its hands for the past two-plus years. Outside of, y'know, a blueline reshuffle that's working out swimmingly.I don’t miss any players either. I miss watching fun hockey games.
-edit- I'm dumb, I was looking at 2RD specifically and not the whole Matheson-Petry swap.1.35 mil actually
If I remember correctly Marino and MP actually had some decent stats in the playoffs burn I’ll recognize that MM & Marino struggled at times against the Rangers best lines.I don't know about Marino, but Matheson's analytics cratered to end the year as he was playing with Letang and Marino. His results were notably better with Ruhwedel than they were with Marino and Letang.
The playoffs were even worse, Matheson-Letang got scored on 9 times in 7 games at 5v5 and they had bad analytics as well.
Can they take themselves off?You can complain about the players not executing all you want, but at the end of the day, they're not putting themselves on the ice.
Petry + Rutta + Smith + Poehling + 3rd > Matheson + Marino + 4thSmith for sure is an NHL er and I hope Blossoms into a top 4 D.
Thing is we are in cup mode atleast to start this season.
A top 4 defensemen for a player In the AHL goes backwards.
I just think we could have done better. We took on cap with the Petry deal when maybe we could have done something different.
Unfortunately we are stuck and gotta deal with. My only suggestion is Dumo 3rd pair stat.
Somebody got run over by a golf cart during the on-ice demolition derby at practice. Whoops!

If we ever got to the point where there was an actual in-game mutiny, I'd probably laugh so hard I'd choke. Can they take themselves off?
Lol, like.. Can the team protest and stay on the bench because they suck so bad?

Agree there, for sure. But I do think a team has use for those kinds of guys, especially on dirt cheap contracts. It's kind of laughable how every "prospect" we call up basically is best suited as a 4th line plug.

Please be Carter. He’s looked awful this year.Well they don’t have the cap to do this unless Blueger is not being activated or Carter or someone else is going on LTIR lol
Fingers crossed ol' Coors Light retires after this season. Please be Carter. He’s looked awful this year.
