I still can't figure out whether you revile or you love Geno.

Yeah, it's gonna be a blast trying to sort out a working 2nd line. Just as Rust was coming to life, the guy who does all the work for that line goes down--but we all expected that anyway.

He is favorite player!

But no I'm just saying that Malkin ratchets up to another level in the playoffs especially defensively. It was a compliment. I wouldn't say that Zucker does ALL the work but yeah he's done a great job of actually being the mini-Kunitz we were all assured the team was getting this season. So that's a big loss. And Heinen/Rust seems like a potentially shit combo... that's for sure.

No good options for L2 right now that doesn't involve reverting to GCR. Hopefully they figure it out. Petry is the real loss here, though. His game really solidified through this stretch IMO. So naturally he blew his wrist up.

Hopefully this isn’t the return of Zucker’s wonky groin because he was pretty much useless and completely unreliable while he was nursing that along last year.

It's been nice eating some crow re: Zucker this year. But yeah... like Gurgs said this is why you look elsewhere to fill his role moving past this season. It isn't just the injuries... it's the recovery and extremely meh play while he's working through getting back to whatever 100% is these days.

Going back to Chychrun talk, I think I'd offer:

Ty Smith
Blomqvist or Pickering
2023 or 2024 1st (protected)
one of DOC / Poulin / Hallander / Puustinen / Svejkovsky

And hold on to Dumoulin for a bit longer while this injury bug strikes us.

A week to week (aka month long) and longer term (aka monthS long) injury. That don't require surgery. Wtf did they even injure then?
I’m gonna guess: Petry is a broken wrist (2 months minimum with possible ligament damage, although could be an elbow I guess. Zucker is high ankle or knee sprain, partial ligament tears requiring healing on it own

No reason to hold onto Dumo. You move Smith you still have Ruh and Frieds who are fine.

Small reasons to hold on to Dumo: I'm assuming he won't accept a trade to Arizona & depth due to injury

First reason being the biggest hurdle.

edit to add: You also hold on to him for an injury to happen to another contender's LD. Hopefully get better value.

that’s also a possibility…he was seen limping and that could fit the profile…would be horrendous for him in a contract year

Well L2 is lol…Zucker was basically doing all the work on that line and Heinen is no where near as an effective forechecker

I’m not sure this is true. Zucker was fine there, but people act like he was like lighting it up. Dude had a hot start but is on pace for like Heinen’s goal production last season.

I have to tell you that I'm a LITTLE curious where this logic is coming from. Not just you... seen it a lot, lately. Zucker is absolutely doing a yeoman's work on that line but this "all the work" stuff is a bit weird to me. Rust has been coming along and Malkin is hardly just standing around waiting for the puck.

Yeah this. It seems a bit verboten to even imply that Zucker has slowed up and even been downright unproductive lately. But he has.

Don't worry I'm sure they'll stick with Heinen/Malkin/Rust so long as they are productive and play a respon...

BAAAHAHAHAHAHA... ahhhhhh... sorry couldn't even finish that sentence with a straight face.

I was not talking about production…I was talking about who was doing the work

Zucker was F1 on that line…his job was to go in the Ozone first and establish a forecheck…not saying G and Rust weren’t doing any work but he had that task because he’s good at it…Rust probably will have to pick that up and that means play a harder game than he has been because he’s still floaty at times, and I don’t think Heinen is quick enough to get on the giddy up first…

What work? Floating around aimlessly, giving away the puck and having his production exist off of secondary assists?
I was talking about Zucker, not Rust lol..I think you have those guys confused…neither of them have been lighting it up production wise but Zucker has been the better forechecker so far this season
