It sucks it had to be this way but sometimes you just have to move on. It's not like we have missed out on anything in Malkin's career. He's done it all and then some. We will always have the memories and cup wins to look back on.

71 will hang in the rafters next to 66 and 87 soon enough.

Because replacing Malkin with Jeff Carter, Blueger, DOC or Vince Trocheck definitely make the team better. People want Malkin kept because he’s better then any replacement outside of 1 or 2 guys. If the Pens get either of them I’ll gladly wave goodbye to Malkin on his way to the airport

We only need Malkin on the PP if it means we miss the playoffs without him doing it.

I think the actual numbers are so incredibly close but Geno's pride is slighted and plenty of people in the FO/coaching staff also didn't want him back. I think both sides don't feel that badly walking away over, realistically, $1-3M total.

Yeah leaking that you're testing the free agent market because the Penguins are offering you $250k a year less than you want would be a downright moronic decision.

Malkin's agent is leaking that Malkin is testing the UFA market because he's either pissed at the Penguins for not meeting his demands sooner or he wasn't being honest about what he wanted to re-sign with the Penguins for. You don't leak "my client is testing the UFA market" over $1 million over a 4 year contract when you've earned more than $100 million in your career.
