Patrick Kane will cost anywhere from 3-4 more million/year than Trocheck (at least for this year) and would cost assets in a trade.

Grading right or wrong on negotiation reports by whether they get the final result rather than whether they're accurately reporting what's going on at the given moment is one of the most horribly illogical things people do on this forum, and unless someone was sitting right by Hextall's shoulder reading his notes, pretty much none of us have a clue as to whether Rossi or any other journo was right or wrong at any given point of the negotiations. If that's the standard of course they look bad, and let's acknowledge pretty much all the national guys reporting on it were saying the exact same thing.

Tbh, I just don't understand the burning need that the general community has here to believe the worst of the Pittsburgh sports media at all possible opportunities. They read exactly the same as any sports media anywhere to me. Taking the national guys more seriously made sense at least when Rutherford was here and did all his leaking through them, but now it's Hextall and there's almost no leaks. they're equally in the dark.

The more we get these sort of diametrically opposed takes from former members of the Pens organization or media personalities the more I'm sure that none of them know what's going on at all.

At 14:30, Seravalli talked about Malkin. He said that for the first time, the Penguins did offer a 4 year deal to Malkin and he thinks the Penguins are hoping to get him at the same AAV as Letang. The Malkin camp needed to get to 4 years to get the total amount of money that Malkin wanted. Seravalli also says that he thinks there's a deal to be made even if the AAV is higher.

Seravalli also wonders if Malkin decides to leave even if they meet their demands out of anger that they didn't prioritize him and how long the negotiation process took.

Yeah if Seravelli is correct and the Pens have upped the offer to 4 years $24 million then Geno needs to put his money where is mouth was and sign. That’s been the reported hold up recently so if they gave him the extra year he wanted then that should be the end of it
