Zucker had a higher 5v5 per 60 rate two seasons ago (20-21) and tied Smith this year while being significantly higher at goalscoring which was the exact point I made.

2022-2023: Both Smith and Zucker had a 2.06 5v5 points/60
2021-2022: 1.57 5v5 points/60 for Zucker, 2.19 5v5 points/60 for Smith
2020-2021: 1.49 5v5 points/60 for Zucker, 1.31 5v5 pints/60 for Smith
2019-2020: 1.97 5v5 points/60 for Zucker, 2.38 5v5 points/60 for Smith
2018-2019: 1.37 5v5 points/60 for Zucker, 1.91 5v5 points/60 for Smith
2017-2018: 2.10 5v5 points/60 for Zucker, 2.45 5v5 points/60 for Smith

Okay I was slightly wrong, Smith had a better or equal 5v5 points/60 rate as Zucker in 5 of 6 seasons, and the one that he didn't was a clear outlier season for Smith.

How you can look at this data and argue "Zucker has better 5v5 numbers" is beyond me.

I like how I'm actually providing data to support my opinion and your arguments are just "you must be related to Reilly Smith" or "I'll throw away my Zucker jersey".

It really makes content on this board shitty if people who take the time to actually gather facts and data to support their arguments just get these lazy responses back.

What difference does a six year sample versus career sample have?

How you can look at this data and argue "Zucker has better 5v5 numbers" is beyond me.

Because Zucker has a higher rate of producing at 5v5 than Smith in their careers.

Who gives a crap about what Reilly Smith was doing for Boston while playing 11 minutes a night in 2012-2013?

I'm using the last 6 years because it's a large sample size showing that Smith has been clearly more productive in recent years than Zucker.

Bud, I think I have about 10 post on the subject outside of the 2 things I mentioned above the last 2 days? How long you want to keep doing this?

Is this a post count thing?

You are defending this to the death and all I said is that their numbers are similar. Smith has about the same career goals in roughly 100 more games played.

I am not saying one is vastly better than the other at anything, if anything its all debatable but its not worth 100 post to me. I said what I said, what else do you want from me? Money? Fame?Women?

well what difference does it make when Jason Zucker was playing with his intestine pushing against his stomach wall for 1.5 seasons?

Still lost in embarrassing fashion with Jake being meh in the last two games.

That’s what we are discussing though. If Jake signs 9 mil for 3 years I’m fine resigning him.
The things you say with a straight face man haha. The dude scored 8 goals in 7 playoff games. Literally led the league in playoff goal scoring when we were eliminated IIRC.

I could see him sign a longer term deal (5-6 years) where the team can move him later on, just like Rust.

Zucker .93 g per 60 and 1.8 pts
Smith .8 per 60 and 2.07 pts

I think given Zucker’s injuries both here and in Minnesota over the last six years this doesn’t really tell the story you are trying.

Comparable players at 5v5 with Smith being worse at goalscoring. Which is the only argument I’ve ever made.

If you want to make an argument that Smith’s health is a positive over Zucker I agree. And I wanted to target Smith a ton.

The big issue I have right now is swapping Zucker for Smith and making no other changes to our forward group is a super lame dick move in the top six.

lol.

Since 2023:

John Marino 1 playoff round win.

Jeff Petry single-handedly ended his team’s 15+ year playoff streak.

Yeah easy to say we lost that trade.

Not sure having Sam Bennett on this team over Jake Guentzel and a 1st we spent on Ryan Reaves is doing much worse than what Jake and group have done since. But he scored a bunch of goals in two years so he’s safe.

Jake with an absolutely ridiculous goal kicking the puck over the head of the Vezina winner and batting it into the net to give us the lead in Game 7 - meh

Dear Dubas:

If you trade for Erik Karlsson, we can go back to discussing Erik Karlsson and stop comparing Zucker and Smith. I believe this is important because we have Smith and Zucker signed in Arizona.

Please take this into consideration when evaluating moves. It's not always about you or the team.

Thanks,
SEAL Bo-und

I thought as of a month ago moving Jake Guentzel was tantamount to a betrayal of everything and blowing it up. Now the same poster is encouraging it?

Zona will trade Zucker back to the Pens at the deadline for a 3rd with 50% retained. Then it will be all out war between the Smith family against Zucker and his entourage. A new age Hatfield vs McCoy rivalry. Gonna be good.
I'm going to touch myself tonight to the thought of that.
