Give that man a 3- year contract extension!
IT'S almost as if the powers that be are intentionally trying to sabotage our chances.

Jesse is absolutely spot on! Particularly with those guys being on the very back end of their careers. Keep in mind that McDavid has more goals than Sid and Geno COMBINED! And they're both deemed at having really good seasons.

Madden's rant doesn't mention Sullivan even once. Does he have blackmail material on the local journalists or something? This is becoming more embarrassing with every passing day.

Well he does suggest and has said in the past that there are tactical adjustments the team could make and hasn’t…that is on the coaches one would presume lol

I get the point.

But in reality what was actually at stake?

Getting blown out in embarrassing fashion in round one?

Just in case you forgot, that was BUDDY ROBINSON with the go-ahead goal. Absolutely Brutal

Sullys resume after the b2bs is frankly quite impressive:

-Eliminated from play-in round
-Swept in first round
-Lose 3-1 series lead in first round
-Don't make the playoffs
You forgot another first round-exit in there somewhere.

Dont forget

-Eliminated by a rival (2018) in what was probably the only excusable loss
-Eliminated in a sweep in the Metro 3 slot (2019)

Once the 2019 loss happened, he should've been on thin ice. Sorry, but that was an embarrassment. To follow it up with the Montreal fiasco should've been the final nail. To think he has gotten TWO MORE chances after that, both of them first round flops, is absurd.

Once again, the culture of the organization is not about winning, or relentlessly striving to improve the team. It's about saying "Ahh, B2B cups is good enough, lets focus on legacy building from now on".

He's going for every kind of embarrassing loss possible. Next year he's gonna go for blowing a 3-0 series lead!

David Todd is right though.

Look at Florida's trio for example. Thachuk certainly outplayed Sid. Hart nominee wouldn't be surprising. +30.
Barkov outplayed Malkin. 6 fewer points but infinitely better defensively, he PK'd and took 74 fewer PIM's. Also missed 10+ games.
Montour outplayed Letang, offensively and defensively. He's sitting on 73 points. Did a great job on the PP.
Jarry could have given us an edge over them but he failed.

Our trio is fine but it's not what it used to be relative to the rest of the league. I expect it'll be worse next year. Sid and Geno didn't miss a game this year. Still wasn't enough to get this team over 92 points. They needed more help from the supporting cast.

It's f***ing insane how Sully has 1 playoff series win to his name since the b2b in '16 and '17.
In 2018 while playing the Caps I remember thinking, wow Sullivan has won 9 straight series. How did we get so lucky. He then proceeded to lose 4 straight and then miss the playoffs lol.

Things really can turn to shit in a moments notice.
