Tweet was from the weekend before it even leaked that the Canucks were looking at poaching Patrick Allvin to join Rutherford in the front office so it seems Blake Price has some credible sources.

Price of course used to be a media member for TSN.

What can a possible Pens and Canucks trade look like?

Some tidbits that Rutherford mentioned in his presser yesterday in relation to trades.

1. Canucks will not be trading any early round draft picks. Late picks are available
2. Canucks looking to acquire speed
3. Canucks looking to acquire a player that is similar age of the core and can grow with the core
( 21-26 yrs old)
4. Canucks against the cap so it would have to be dollar in dollar out trade

This was later clarified that it’s not a quip pro quo kind of deal. Most likely referring to some executives that will be released to work with the Canucks.

It'll be something around Miller and probably Zucker. Maybe Zucker+one of the Pens' recently drafted forward prospects?

Did you just disregard the part about Rutherford saying he wants players of similar age to the core and can grow with core.. Dont think 30 yr old Zucker fits that.

In fact, Miller is probably only getting traded because he is 30 yrs old in 2 yrs when he is a free agent.

Before the season end is a long time,

Rutherford also said he's going to take his time, evaluate the team so i don't think a trade is going to happen any time soon

Rutherford fixates on specific players. He has always done it. It's in his nature. If he has the power to make trades as interim GM, he will overpay for a player he really loves because it's simply what he does.

Rutherford loves Zucker. He tried to trade Kessel for him and ended up trading a first rounder for him the following season. I'm not saying it's a great idea...just that it's absolutely a Rutherford move.

Rutherford loved Zucker for a win now Pens team.

Why do people think Rutherford is unable to have a different game plan when he is running a different team with different circumstances.

Rutherford has already said countless times he isnt trading 1st round picks because its just not the cycle the Canucks are in. He traded 1st round picks with Pens like it was candy on Halloween.

Wonder if Rutherford will move Boeser and/or Miller quickly. I could see it.

Canucks will look to get younger players, prospects and/or draft picks in trade.

Man, Rutherford's comments on top of his history with Guerin and the Wild's reported interest in Miller make it hard not to look back toward Minnesota and Fiala. I still have to agree with Canucks fans in thinking that they should really be after defense instead of a LW... but maybe things look different under Boudreau?

What are you basing this on?

When has Rutherford run a team that was building with a young core of players that are 21-25 yrs old that is probably 2-3 yrs away from their window opening.

I do eventually think he will make trades of course but it wont be for win now type of players.

It might be something like

Miller for Marino or Boeser for Marino kinda thing.

Or maybe even Miller or Boeser for draft picks.

Jim Rutherford's entire track record and what he has said publicly in the past.

Canes fans and Penguins fans will say the same exact thing about him. His track record is decades long at this point.

Maybe Tyler Myers for Zucker.

I'd do it because Zucker's contract expires 1 year sooner.

Canucks Right Side tho:

Poolman
Hamonic
Schenn
Burroughs

Meyers has actually been also much much better under Bodreau's system. Hes been playing like a top pairing D over the last 4 games. Logging crazy minutes like 25 a game.. Canucks have given up 5 goals in 4 games.

So you think he will run the Canucks the same way he ran the win no Penguins that had Crosby and Malkin?

that's delusional.

The guy has 3 cups and is in the hall of fame, he has a brilliant hockey mind,

he is capable of getting to the same destination by taking a different path.
