Thank GOD we didn't pay that for Jiricek. Great haul by CBJ there.
You mean Columbus didn't value Ponomarov and Koivunen as much as a 1st? Weird because that seemed to be the justification for the quantity versus quality trade return. This is why you get 1st rounders tho instead of prospects / Michael Bunting for Jake.
If you have that extra 1st last year or this year you have the ability to move it in this type of trade.
A 3rd too. Seravelli missed that.Somehow missed that they also gave up a 2nd round pick, on top of the 1st, prospect and 4th. Yea probably couldn't have matched that without getting stupid.
So Hunt, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4thA 3rd too. Seravelli missed that.
It's a combination of Guerin's desperation to capitalize on a window and him feeling bad for the CBJ franchise imo.Yeah, I wouldn't have given up that much for Jiricek.
Maybe it's a good deal for other teams, but not for where the Penguins are right now, even if they had another first to give.
Varied years, but pretty much yeah...outside of a 5th to Minnesota.So Hunt, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
???

So you’re saying this was too much for the Penguins to give up while criticizing Dubas for not getting a 1st to make this kind of move? What?

I want to hold onto him in case we get another coach at some point. I really want to see him play a game or two with 87.Please trade Puljujarvi, not playing so Nieto, Acciari and Hayes can skate around like f***ing ghosts is so bloody annoying
I don't get this? Minnesota is putting Jiricek in the AHL.
How is this a trade to capitalize on a window?

I know we're done with them, but I think the idea is to play guys like Acciari in the hopes that someone sees something that they decide it's worth making a trade for him. Please trade Puljujarvi, not playing so Nieto, Acciari and Hayes can skate around like f***ing ghosts is so bloody annoying

Is that a longshot or a pipe dream? Maybe. But NHL GMs are weird. Acciari's a right-handed faceoff guy who blocks shots like it's no tomorrow and embraces his role in the bottom six. Old school GMs like that stuff.

Showcase might be the wrong term for him. Proof that he's not hampered by the slew of injuries he had last year might be better. Because guys like him do fall off a cliff at some point in their 30s and injuries can hasten that decline.Acciari is 32. He doesn't need to be showcased.
Pu is the guy the should be showcasing. To prove he is healthy and show that he’s actually a decent player despite his offensive game not living up to his draft spot.Acciari is 32. He doesn't need to be showcased.

I think their hope is the following:
- Acciari shows he's healthy and durable enough to still be of some value to a contender's bottom six.
- Beauvillier has enough offensive pop to be a bottom six option for a contender lacking some scoring down the lineup.
- Someone needs a 13th forward and is willing to take a flyer on Nieto. Similar to Ruhwedel last year.
I think it's highly unlikely Hayes has any positive value, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him scratched when Glass is healthy.
I think Graves has negative value. And I think they're going to keep playing Grzelcyk in the hopes that someone gets desperate at the deadline, but more than likely he will continue to have negative value and will be stuck here until his contract expires in the spring.
The youth movement we all want will likely come in February/March if the Pens can move some of these players out.
